Sounds as if the tracking is wrong. Once the tyres are worn badly though it might not still steer right until they are replaced, but you could put the rear ones on the front. A check before waiting for bad wear to visibly show is to run your hands over the tread and if the treads are starting to feather it could be the tracking is out. I once put cheap India tyres on a Maxi and in 5k miles they had worn down to the wires at the outside edges. They were replaced with better tyres which lasted around 15k miles without the bad wear. So if your tyres were cheap ones then it could explain the wear first time. Probably the tracking was a bit out after replacing the track rod ends but then the place that adjusted it made a mess of it. I diy replaced a rack on a Saab and until it was tracked it would steer all over the place. The tyre place that did the tracking only adjusted it at one end so whilst the tracking was ok with the wheels staight ahead, once turned it was out. I then adjusted it myself so the number of threads on the track rods was the same at each side and then it was ok. After this experience I would never have a tyre place check or adjust the tracking, believing that unless a part is replaced or worn, the tracking does not change and if due to wear once the part is replaced the tracking should be ok (unless track rod ends).

Was the problem there before you replaced the track rod ends ?

2.2 Hdi Filter Replacement And Damaged Fuel Line Connector.
paul.h replied to rednose66's topic in C5 - Technical
Citroen do not list the connectors separate from the pipes and it looks as if they sell the return pipe as a set with the supply pipe, part no. could be 1579PE (check with your VIN). An ebay search did not come up with one so I do not know what it would cost. The short bit of pipe with the priming bulb looks the same as on our C5 so if you visit a breakers there may be a good choice of cars to get just this section from the bulb to the filter. I would try a message to coastline taxis, he might have something in the garage for a fix. Some filters have a heater and a water measurement, so the wiring could be for one of those. From memory, on our C5 the connector was pushed in the filter base but it did not connect to anything. I do not know if you are trying to remove the pipes properly, but the coloured inserts in the connectors are pushed in and not levered out and whilst held in the connectors slide off. The green insert looks as if that has been broken a bit. -
Before the track rod ends were replaced did it also drive round in circles or has it only done it since then ? Was the steering wheel removed at all when setting up the tracking ? The tracking is supposed to be different on the C5 in that the front wheels are wider apart than the rear so if 4 wheel tracking is checked this needs to be allowed for. Rather than a tyre place I would prefer to use the Citroen dealer to set up the tracking. You can do a quick check to make sure it has been set up equally across both sides by ensuring the track rod threads are equal at each side. According to the Citroen service box procedures the tracking should be set toe out at the front 0 to 3 mm with the correct tyre pressures, the car at the reference height and the steering rack set at its zero point. The zero point is half the distance a track rod moves on the full lock to lock distance. You could put a mark on a track rod, move the steering to one full lock , measure the distance of the mark from a fixed point on the rack, turn to the opposite full lock, measure the distance again, divide the distance moved by 2 and then set up the rack by moving it to this distance so it is half way between the full locks. For the reference heights, it looks as if the front subframe behind the wheel should be 140 mm below the centre of the wheel and the rear frame behind the rear sphere should be 68 mm above the wheel centre. Both are +/- 2 mm.

In the handbook under doors, it shows how to lock them without needing the battery (copied below). The passenger doors in the side have a hole under the lock in which the key can be inserted and turned an eighth of a turn, then shut the door. The driver's door just use the key in the lock. I do not know if the 2008 on C5 (X7) suffers as badly as the earlier C5 for the battery discharging if not used, if it does not then you could leave the battery connected. On our 2007 and previous 2004 C5, if not used for a month the battery would be flat. If the car is being left in a garage, I would leave the handbrake off to stop its pads sticking to the discs but leave it in gear or the wheels chocked. If the handbrake is electric I do not know if this is possible though. Emergency control System which locks or unlocks the doors mechanically in the event of a malfunction of the battery or of the central locking. Locking the driver's door Insert the key in the lock, then turn it to the right. Unlocking the driver's door Insert the key in the lock, then turn it to the left. Locking the front and rear passenger doors Insert the key in the lock, located on the edge of the door, then turn it one eighth of a turn .

It is 6 years since I did the job so can not remember much. The tensioner pin from memory was part of it to stop it unwinding, but I am not sure. The Citroen service box procedures have the following: Refit the timing belt .Position the timing belt, long span correctly tightened, in the following order :Crankshaft gear Retain the belt with the tool 5 (a clip to use on the crank pulley but a piece of card will do to push it against the pulley)Camshaft pulleyWater pump pulleyRoller tensionerRemove cam shaft and flywheel setting toolsSetting belt tension Rotate the roller tensioner ( 7) using an Allen key (at "a").Position the index " c" in position "f- Haynes position 3 max tension position" Tension the belt to the maximum of the space indicated.Hold the roller tensioner ( 7) Using tool [4 - the pin that goes in the tensioner base].Tighten the roller tensioner fixing nut to 10 Nm.Turn the crankshaft 4 turns in the normal direction of rotation.ESSENTIAL : Never turn the crankshaft backwards.Reinsert camshaft and flywheel setting rods [1], [2] to make sure that the timing setting is correct.Remove setting rods [ 1], [2]. Adjusting the tensionLoosen the tensioner nut while maintaining the position of the roller tensioner Using an Allen key at "a".Then bring the index " c" to its adjustment position "g - Haynes position 2 normal tensioner position".CAUTION : The index " c" must not go past the slot "g". If it does, repeat the timing belt tensioning operation.Hold the roller tensioner ( 7) in this position, using an Allen key.Tighten the roller tensioner fixing nut to 20 NmESSENTIAL : The tensioning roller must not turn while its mounting is tightened . If it does, repeat the timing belt tensioning operation.

This topic is worth a read http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23157-timing-marks/ I have attached a photo of the tensioner on our C3 (2003 1.4i 75 hp petrol) before I removed the old timing belt.

You could try this site for parts diagrams. They are the Citroen ones on a site in Russia but I could not see how to put in your VIN. https://www.ilcats.ru/citroen/?function=getParts&model=1CVV&body=B0DAF&engine=B0F6V&group=FCT0300&subgroup=FCT0700&subsubgroup=FCT0942&part=036005614120A&language=en -

Did not realise you could be in Kuala Lumpur (from IP address). We have another member in Malaysia who also cannot access the parts diagrams. He sometimes visits the UK and gets lots of parts for his C5 since he has said how expensive things are there. -

Looks as if a new one is £130. I searched on the Citroen part no. 6500Y1 which I think is for your car but this should be checked using your VIN in the parts diagrams. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-Citroen-Peugeot-Fuse-Box-C3-C5-C8-206-307-807-PICASSO-Partner-6500Y1-/262900730046 In the citroen service box procedures it gives a replacement time of 36 minutes for the BSM and does not mention any diagnostics so I think you are right and it is just a swap of parts. You can see the parts diagrams as a free service if you register on the service.citroen site as an other professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Once on the site use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your car. The BSM can be found under Electric unit, general points , units/connector boards/kits, parts, checking stand and fuse box. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres you might need to select your language first and the registration button is top right. -
I bought oil for our C5 from Neilsen in Swansea at a good price and delivered in 2 days with no bother. Their LDS is less than £7 a litre (you will need 5 for a complete change) plus a delivery charge. https://www.nielsencdg.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000090.pl?WD=lds&PN=Total%2d%2dLDS%2dHydraulic%2dSuspension%2dFluid%2dCitroen%2d1%2dLitre%2dTOT_166224%2ehtml#SID=115

If getting one off ebay I would try and collect it yourself. Then you can make sure it looks in good condition and is not suffering the same common fault. You could also ask a dealer for the price of a new one and at the same time find out if it would need a diagnostic to code it to your car. -
Boot Won't Open On A 2011 C5 Tourer - Wiring Damaged Near Hinge
paul.h replied to cookiemonster's topic in C5 - Technical
Most likely place for wiring damage is in the bit between the door and body. -

There are some videos that might help with using the Lexia, as an example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28AhlAapNnY -

You could test the lock with the boot open by closing the lock against a screwdriver and then seeing if it unlocks with the boot switch or keyfob. -

When you turn the ignition on, the engine management light should be on until the engine has run for a few seconds as it checks everything is working ok. If there is a fault then the light will not go off. I have not used a Lexia, only a code reader which through the menu has access to live data. -

It is hard to imagine how just cutting and joining a few wires in itself could cause this. Possibly it is a coincidence it happened or maybe something was done that caused a voltage spike to the car such as the wrong battery disconnection/reconnection or doing a jump start or charging the battery with it still connected. Maybe pulling on the wiring loom has damaged other wires within it or an earth wire. Maybe the work was done with the battery connected or the connections are not right but you can check this from the wire colours in your photo. These are all speculation though and probably of no help. Have the earth points been checked and the immobiliser aerial replaced yet ? If the mechanic can not sort it can the car be taken to a Citroen dealer ? -

That topic is for the current C5 so I would work your way through the things suggested and not buy any parts yet. -

I guess you need to be careful you do not end up paying the mechanic more than the car can be replaced for. Has he given you any idea of extra costs to fix the car or is it an open ended cheque until fixed ? There was a recent topic on a C3 which needed a new bsi and it was well over £1000 installed at a Citroen dealer but this also included new injector seals. -

I would not worry too much about the economy mode message since that is normal and should go once the engine runs again. Have a look at this topic (if not already seen) since it may just need some earth points cleaning http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/21729-c8-immobiliser-fault/ -

Being a petrol car if the fuel pump is only one in the fuel tank then that may not be too bad, unless it is a hpi engine which also has a high pressure fuel pump. -

Makes you wonder if the wiring changes have done something or an electrical plug is loose. The transponder aerial is the detector that sits around the ignition key lock, they do not cost much if it is faulty and that would give an immobiliser fault - maybe this was the original problem that started it all off. When doing a bsi reset, if the windows can not be opened then just open the driver's door and close its lock around a screwdriver so that the car thinks the door is closed. I have never done a bsi reset so do not know how effective they are and there may be other versions of it on the internet. -
Rusty Nuts In Close To The Hinges Of The Door
paul.h replied to Alexander15's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
There was something on here a while back about the C5 (X7) door straps (which stop the doors opening too far and keep them in the open position) and they are built in to the hinges, so possibly these bolts are to do with those. -
If the washer pump still works when trying to wash the front but instead water comes out at the back, then that could be the washer piping or jets are blocked since the same pump is used for front and back but runs in opposite directions.

I do not know about the aerial but radios on Citroen cars are coded to the vehicle on which they are originally installed so your new one will need to be coded to your relay by a dealer or somebody with Lexia diagnostic equipment. Without doing this it might work but could bleep all the time.
