Maybe it is an air leak in the vacuum pipework to the brake servo or in the servo or the vacuum pump. If so you may hear it under the bonnet with the car stationary and the engine running/revving to simulate the high speed.

Your question is not clear, could you explain a bit more.

The service.citroen.com website has mechanics manuals that can be downloaded free if you register (allowed as a member of a car club, see terms and conditions).

The handbook covers disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to help avoid electrical problems. It is something like - remove the ignition key and open the bonnet, close the doors then wait a few minutes for everything to shutdown. Disconnect the battery. Reconnect the battery, wait a bit, put the key in the ignition switch, wait a bit, turn it to position where radio could be turned on (if not in economy mode), wait a bit, turn to the position where the dash lights up, wait a bit, start the engine then move the windows down and up, reset the clock. The radio should not need anything doing. Can not help with the plug location, maybe it will be in the Haynes manual. If you register on the service.citroen.com website (allowed as a member of a car club in the terms and conditions), you can see the parts diagrams that the dealers use which may show the plug.

When not in auto (use econ button if there is one), can the fan speed be reduced, if yes then your diagnosis may not be correct. Your Citroen dealer will supply the correct parts if you use the car vin which can be seen at the lower left side of the windscreen from the outside. If you get them to print the parts diagram this ought to show how/where it is fitted. It may be worth disconnecting/reconnecting the battery which may reset a fault - follow the procedure in the car handbook to avoid other electrical problems (it will be something like remove the ignition key, open the bonnet, wait a few minutes for everything to shutdown, disconnect the battery, wait a bit, reconnect it, wait a bit, put the key in the ignition, wait a bit, turn the ignition to position 1, wait a bit, to position that lights up the dash but not start the engine, wait a bit, start the engine, run windows down and up and reset the clock).

Could be a faulty ignition switch.

Post this on the C5 subforum with info on model, engine size, diesel/petrol and mileage and you should get a good response. The service light could be something such as the front brake pads worn, low battery voltage (but then unlikely to start). Air bag faulty could be a loose connection under a seat - has one been moved recently, such as by a new driver/passenger ? The anti pollution fault could be all sorts of things depending on which engine you have - a search on the C5 sub forum will give a lot of info on this. Was the usual garage a Citroen dealer since I would have thought their diagnostic equipment would have read/cleared any fault codes ? I have not seen any posts that suggest the computer plays up at 10 years old, possibly being fobbed off here.

Most likely the motor that moves the flap needs replacing. This seems to be a common problem and a search on the C5 subforum should bring up similar posts.

Haynes covers removing the heater panel. As done, remove the radio and storage compartment below it. Then push the heater panel in at the top to release the upper locating lugs, then move the unit upwards to free the lower lugs. The unit can then be moved forward and tilted over in the radio area, pliers used to turn the bulb holders anti clockwise to remove them - uses capless bulbs in holders. Haynes does not state the bulb size/wattage.
-
Crank position sensors can fail when hot but then work ok once cooled, replacement is not expensive. I think they do not give a fault code either. If a petrol engine then you could try new spark plugs or could be the ignition coil.
-
Think this is a common problem and probably needs the fan resistor block replacing. A search may give more info.
-
Most likely it was service.citroen.com If you join the site (allowed as a member of a car club) you can see the same parts info as dealers (free) as well as purchase extra info.

If not already sorted, stillsons may undo the nut at the cylinder end, at the hose end there should be flats/hex on the hose fitting to hold in a spanner whilst the pipe nut is being turned. However, if this fails, use a hacksaw on the nut to split it. At worst you may end up replacing the cylinder and hose as well as the pipe. Try not to transfer any effort to the metal support to avoid damaging it.

Economy mode is a feature to prevent the battery going flat by switching off things like the radio and internal lights if they have been on for more than about 15 minutes. It is reset by starting the engine. Just ignore this. To start the engine, it needs a minimum rpm on the starter so if the battery is poor, say less than about 12.5 to 12.3 volts, it will not start. I have tried a 900 amp jump start device on our 2.2 hdi when the battery has been low and it does not have enough power in it to get it going, however, jump starting off another car works. Given the car's and probably battery's age, I would suspect the battery needs replacing. Euro car parts are competitive on price. First measure the battery voltage and if low, either charge it up, jump start off another car (or AA/RAC/Green Flag), or replace. If it is 12.5 to 12.7 volts, then check the earth connections are ok before suspecting the starter motor.

The first 3 could all be related to the eoylis fluid injection for the exhaust particulate filter and the last for the angle (sensor) of the steering wheel used in the ECP system which helps prevent skidding which I think may be located on the steering column. How many miles has the car done ?
-
I am aware of 2 automatic locking features so not sure which you are asking about and then how you have started the engine and managed to lock yourself out: 1. Once above about 6 mph the doors will automatically lock - to stop this or start it, just hold in the dash lock button until there is a beep. The engine may need to be running for this. 2. If the doors are unlocked with the key fob, they will relock if a door is not opened in 30 seconds. I do not know if this one can be disabled.

Coastline, did you get the injector out in the end ? Seen somebody advertising on the C8 pages, APdiagnostics who claim a 98% success rate using a 20 tonne puller.
-
Somebody here (cannot remember who) fixed this by drying the electrical connector on the boot switch which had some water in it.

The handbook suggests in the underbonnet fusebox, fuse 6, red 10 amp, is for the headlights but lists as auto. - xenon lamps - directional headlamps. So I am not sure. 10 amp will only give up to 120 watts so this may not be the right one. If none of the fuses are blown, have a look on C4owners.org since it may be a bit more complicated than just a blown fuse.

If your local garage is not a Citroen dealer it may pay you to talk to one. The power steering stopping working has been reported before as a one off problem but usually resets if the ignition is turned off and back on again a few times. The abs/speedo may be a faulty wheel sensor or wiring or even different tyres or tyres worn differently but I would have thought your garage would have checked this. Could also be a software problem which needs an update by the dealer.

The following should help: The mileage on the near windscreen display is the total miles done by the car on the right and also on the left there is also trip miles which is reset by the left button just below the display. The middle button here can be used to adjust the display brightness if the car lights are on. The display on the radio panel shows - instantaneous fuel consumption mpg when the car is moving, other wise shows ---- (petrol pump symbol), - trip miles (lollipop and car picture), - average fuel consumption mpg (lollipop, car and petrol pump picture), - average speed mph of the trip (car picture only). To reset these to zero for next trip, just hold in the button on the end of the wiper stalk. The trip distance only goes up to 10000 km which is about 6214 miles and then it does not go higher or back to zero. So it looks as if your trip data has not been reset so any values you have are not correct. If you have not found it, there is a popular C4 forum, C4owners.org which is worth a look. The C4 subforum here tends not to be used much.

If you have not already guessed, on Citroens, if the radio/inside lights/doors open etc are left on and the engine is switched off, then after about 15 minutes the electrics are automatically turned off to prevent the battery going flat - Citroen call this economy mode. It is reset when the engine is started again. The 15 seems to vary between different cars but it does not seem to be adjustable. So, if any adjustments are being made then do them with the engine running or within 15 minutes of switching it off. From our C4 handbook edition dated 03-2006, there are 2 types of display depending on the car model. Display A has less info, to alter the date/time - press menu button on radio - above the OK button press the up/down arrow buttons to select sub-menu Display Adjustments (there are others for language and units) - confirm with OK button - use up/down arrow buttons to select what you wish to change, year, month etc - change using left/right arrow buttons - use up/down arrow buttons to select next item to change - once complete, press OK button Display B has more info and the up/down and left/right buttons appear to be interchangeable for making changes, to alter the date/time - press menu button on radio - use up/down arrow buttons to select Personalisation - Configuration - confirm with OK button - select the display configuration using up/down arrow buttons - confirm with OK button - select the date/time adjustment using up/down buttons - confirm with OK button - select value to change using up/down buttons - confirm with OK button - adjust using left/right buttons and confirm with OK button - once complete confirm with OK button. ETAI is the French company who make manuals similar to Haynes but in French. They call their manuals Revue Technique Automobile. They cover the most common cars used in France. Language is French but with a dictionary (or google translation) are easy to follow and have good line drawings and photos. Cost including delivery is about 36 euros. The C4 manual is number 697 and covers the 1.6 hdi and 1.6 petrol models.

On our C4, the date/time is changed through the menu button on the radio. I thought it was a C3 (despite C4 in your post) since you have posted on the C3 subforum. I have not been able to download the handbooks either, (only the maintenance manuals once registered), but can print pages using the mouse right click button and print. If you set the printer to 2 pages each sheet of A4 and double sided, it should not take too many sheets. There is a French maintenance manual for the 1.6 petrol and 1.6 hdi, from the ETAI website or Amazon's French site. Similar to Haynes.

Interesting post. I have done this before where nobody responds but I am not sure if the number of views is accurate, often some of them appear to be yahoo and google plus there are a lot of spammers on this site. Anyway, welcome to the site. You may find though that not many C4 owners use this one, the C4owners.org site is a lot more popular and worth a look. We have a C4 1.6 hdi vtr+ and are pleased with it. The steering wheel controls I find are too close and there are too many to be of real use.

To change date/time on our car there are 2 buttons at the sides of the display. Hold in the left one until it changes/starts flashing with english, change with the right button if needed, push left button to go to next one to change until date/time is set. Newer cars it might be done via the radio menu button as on our C4. On the service citroen site, at the bottom on the log on page there is a link to the recent (from about 2007) car manuals without having to register. However, if you do register as a member of a car club (this one) which is allowed in the terms/conditions, you have access to the same parts diagrams as the dealers and you can also pay for additional information. Maintenance manuals can also be downloaded free. Manuals earlier than about 2007 do not seem to be available but there should not be much difference in the C3. If you hold in the button on the end of the wiper stalk it will reset the trip values.
