if you look at this picture of the lock, the small hole can be seen at the left of the lower section and is about 2 or 3 mm diameter. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/332072066906?lpid=122&chn=ps&adgroupid=13585920426&rlsatarget=pla-75952154106&adtype=pla&poi=&googleloc=1006876&device=c&campaignid=207297426&crdt=0

If you want both front and rear foglights to run off the existing relay you would need to check it and its wiring can take the extra 10 amps - the rear fogs are 21 watt so 2 lights gives 42 watts = 3½ amps. Adding 2 front 55 watt lights gives the extra 10 amps. You could always use the existing relay to switch another one feeding the front but it would not be much more difficult to provide a separate switch on the dash somewhere with a new relay - also this way you would not need the rear fogs on at the same time and will stop you dazzling the driver's behind you. If you do make the change do not forget to tell your insurance company, they probably will not charge more but if not informed of a modification they can refuse to pay out in the event of a claim.

Sorry I can not help but I have put your car details in your signature to save needing to mention it each time you start a new topic. You can change this by editing your profile.

According to the Haynes manual for the 2001 to 2004 C5, the front foglights are part of the main beam using a double filament bulb.

The Haynes manual gives the oil amount as 3.75 litres for the 1.6 diesel and on the dip stick from min to max as 1.5 litres so possibly there is about 0.5 litre too much going by the dip stick. Haynes sometimes gets the amount wrong though and I find the plastic dip sticks can be misleading if they are not wiped before taking the level. Did it start to smoke straight after the oil change ?

Good to see it only cost a bit of time to fix. Years ago British Leyland cars used to have a plastic wiper motor parking switch and the plastic plunger used to wear down so it did not work. Fortunately the switch could be replaced at low cost.

I would check the anti roll bar drop links for wear since these can knock.

The VED (car tax) system changes from April 2017 to increase the amount of tax the government collects. It does not change for cars registered before then so if anyone is thinking of buying a new car it may pay to do this before April. The greatest increases are for cars that currently do not pay any tax. There will be an initial tax on purchase based on the CO2 emission and then a flat rate of £140 a year. Any cars with a list price over £40k also pay an extra £310 a year for the first 5 years. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/consumer-news/88361/tax-disc-changes-everything-you-need-to-know-about-uk-road-tax%20 13/2/2017 Edit - this link does not seem to work, see post 6 for the details of the tax changes.

You should check that the adjustments are done on both steering track rods so the number of threads going in to the track rod ends are the same on each side. This will also mean the steering wheel will not need changing on the column when the wheels are pointing ahead. I do not know if it applies to the 2008 on C5 but for the earlier C5 it has been mentioned on here that the rear wheels overall width is different to the front ones so it is not possible to simply make the front to back parallel - which means the tracking is not as easy to set up. The Citroen service box gives the front tracking as Tracking at the axle (adjustable) -0°09' +/-0°09' and the rear tracking as Tracking at the axle (adjustable) 0°43' +/- 0°09'

The trailer plug will have a permanent live and possibly a switched live. On our C5 I used the permanent live thick wire as a supply for the towbar but not the rest of the wiring in the plug. A smart relay was part of the towbar wiring kit which senses the voltage and switches the live out on when the engine is running and the voltage rises. An example of a smart relay http://www.towsure.com/self-switching-smart-split-charge-relay-for-towbar-electrics

A bit of oil from the turbo is normal but if it is excessive it can be a sign of turbo bearing wear. I had a petrol Saab 9-5 that had a turbo failure but for months before there was a blue cloud of smoke on starting for a few seconds as the oil burnt.
-
You could take a live from the trailer plug if the parking sensor plug is not found.

The black smoke might be due to the egr valve, if faulty these are known to give black smoke. I think they do not start to open until the engine has warmed up so excess smoking until warm might be a sign of an egr valve problem. Since you have used the cleaner I would be tempted to leave this for a bit to see if it settles down. I think the maf has a built in inlet air temperature sensor so is part of the maf. If you have access to a code reader that gives live data it will show you what the sensor thinks the temperature is, then you can decide if it is wrong. Before starting the engine it should be the outside temperature of around 10°C but as the engine warms it may go up a bit to possibly 30°C. It is a shame that you are doing your best to maintain the car by replacing filters, cleaning the bits that get fouled with oil/carbon and as a result problems are happening. When coastline taxis is back on the forum it will be good to see what he thinks, I am sure he will have come across these problems before.

When I fit the towbar to our 2007 C5 estate, the towbar wiring plug was at the left side but taped up out of the way over the wheel arch, so to get to it the side panel had to come off. It already had rear parking sensors and the wiring and bits are at the right side behind the panel but nearer the rear. It might be Citroen hide the unused wiring and plugs a bit further forward than you have looked.

If you now only have P0113 then maybe you could try a spray clean with carburettor cleaner in case you brushed some dirt on to the sensor. Have a look at this http://c4owners.org/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?176740

I would not bother disconnecting the battery, just make sure the bsi has shut down by opening the bonnet, removing the ignition key from the car, closing any car doors and then waiting a few minutes before changing the maf. How much is a maf from a Citroen dealer, at least if it costs similar to eurocarparts you will know it is the right part. How does the car run now with your original maf put back in, has the black smoke stopped ?

Where I have read that copy MAFs do not work that well I think it was the temperature sensor bit and this would not necessarily give a fault code but would need to be checked using live data. I would suspect that having the wrong temperature may lead to the wrong fuel/air mixture so poor running. It might just be the new one is poor quality, despite the cost. The Haynes manual does not mention needing to reset the ecu if the MAF is changed. This is from the following site http://pmmonline.co.uk/technical/maf-sensors-troubleshooting-and-fault-diagnosis-advice/ What to remember during MAF sensor replacement It’s important to remember when selecting a MAF sensor for replacement that quality is critical. Using products of lower quality can: potentially reduce the life of and/or damage the catalytic converter; increase fuel consumption; experience poor response from the vehicle, causing drivability issues (lack of power); and breach regulating emission standards due to excessive smoking and increased particulate emissions.

The parts diagrams for the tourer suggest the ecu is somewhere in the right corner at the back of the car. It may need a side panel removing to find the plug for it, provided the wiring loom with the plug is on your car. To replace the ecu is less than half an hour so it can not need much removing to get to it.

It could be the first MAF you tried was not an original equipment one or it was damaged before you tried it - I have read that copy ones do not always work that well.

P0401 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected I do not know what this means. Did you delete the other fault codes when you fit the new MAF meter ?

Our previous 2011 C4 and now our 2015 C4 will vibrate a bit when accelerating. On the 2011 car (1.6 hdi) the dealer put a large tie wrap around the engine air intake pipe since it seemed to vibrate at the front end where it loosely clips in the bracket. I have tried this on the 2015 car but it has not helped so will mention to the dealer at the next service.

Turbo Solenoid Valve For Citroen C4 1.6Hdi - P0238

Like you, I think I would also be tempted to live with the fault code unless it got worse. In this topic it seemed to be fixed by cleaning the egr valve but you have already done this http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/picasso/index.php/topic/22082-fault-codes-p0238-and-p1351-16-hdi/page-2 -
Mark 3 Tourer, Rear Offside Door Won't Stay Open.
paul.h replied to Shane Peet's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Sounds like the door strap then in the door pillar to the door - it may be loose or broken or need greasing/wd40 to free it off or possibly replacing.
