  1. Have you got any diagnostic tools. If so would you be willing to help members in your area for free or just help them out in general. If so please add your name and area to the diagnostic list please. if you cant then its not a problem. best regards steve
  2. Take the car and thrash the arse of it down the motorway. its still a fairley new car and your probally nursing it round the town get it up to 60ish in 3rd and watch all the black soot come out the back. Itl also work the egr valve a bit and the car will run better. Diesels are filthy engines and need to be worked hard to get the best out of them. in the trade its called a italian tune up
  3. live data will show you what your injectors are doing and save you doinf=g a leak of test. also live data will show u hat your engine is doing how much air and fuel and that the engine is running inside its parameters, what area are you in
  4. Does your diagnostic do live data if so whats it saying for the injectors. if not then id be doing a leak of test on them. have you recently done any work on the engine or had any problems with the van
  5. Welcome to the forum and please be a regular visitor and contributor. The spam problem has now been removed and measures taken ( namley john and paul) to catch any spammers
  6. Have you got a contract of emplyment. If so what does it state regarding problems doing your job and what are your liabilitys. If you havnt got a contract then get in touch with acas as by law you have to have one explaining what you do when problems like this happen. so the garage would be in the wrong. Any info you want regarding c8 cambelts/injector problems can be found in the bbc watchdog archives as they done a entire program on it. To be honest with youve ive seen good mechanics and fitters grinding the cylinder heads to get them out and if youve only lost 2 injectors then youve done well as they are a total pig to get out and if we take one in to do we tell them its easier and cheaper to just get a second hand engine. If they decide not to and want there own engine repaired then they get told that im not responsable for any damgae caused getting the injectors out whatsoever. is it a general garage or do they specialise in one make. steve
  7. How does the chipping affect your insurance? Them words there are one big pot of pi55 waiting to boil over my friend. They will ask you have you altered it from the manufactures specifications. Well yes you have youve incresed the bhp, only a matter of time before they start to refuse to pay out.
  8. Quick fix take the bulb out on the dash
  9. you need to get a diagnostic done on it before you go any further. Is the engine running smooth or is it jumping round as id be thinkining injectors
  10. worked on a few new reg c5 and common complaint is the suspension as the suspension system that made the c5 has now become a 1500 quid extra. other than that they all say they drive lovley.but but but taller people arnt happy about the reducedheadroom in the back
  11. well paul h caught another spammer from france today. Him and john d are busy castrating him as i type. So now im getting a complex as the other 2 mods and site owner have all caught spammers and ive havnt caught a single one. suppose thats why i dont go fishing. So a big thank you to the 3 of them for keeping the site clean
  12. Yep the green lhm will kill the pump and eventually the seals on the power steering rack and pump and the seals on the rams and hydraulic unions so get it out and do what john D has posted. And remember all c5 must have mineral based oils and fluids for the suspension and steering
  13. what is the fault with the suspension what is it doing
  14. Liquid metal comes in a tube looks like plastacine sand round the sump and put it on. Weve used it on cylinder heads when core plugs have gone also on engine mounts then drilled and tapped it. £4 a tube any motor factor will have it
  15. Anyone with diagnostic equipment willing to help other members please post your location below. Then it is suggested members contact each other via a private message through the forum. This service is to be free apart from maybe a bacon sandwhich and a cuppa. Tyne and Wear area - coastline taxis (please use a private message to arrange a date/time) Also parts of Weardale when I go to my caravan (edited paul.h 19/11/2013 - no need to contact a moderator/admin)
  16. Id go with the maf or air filter not sealed etc etc as these dont always through up a fault code. but your not going to really know till you get the car plugged in and go to live data and take the car for a drive also the suspension fault will need a plug in aswell
  17. Hi dave yes its the vehicle giving the jump. Paul we were always taugtht the onece the bsi and ecu were married together they could never be devorced. But a local kid reprogramed a bsi out of a scrappy and its worked fine. so im taking a citroen one down and hes going to see if he can do them aswell so heres hoping
  18. Look at the top of your crankshaft pulley then follow the belt to the right and the first pulley you come to is the tensioner, Cant remember if its a torx or a bolt on the petrol models but anyway put a spanner/torx bit on it and pull towards the windscreen it will move and the belt will go slack for removal. the air bag is a common fault on most citroens. disconect the battery then go and sit in the passenger seat and stretch your feet out where the soles of your feet are is where the multiplug is. remove the carpet and then the foams and youl see multiplugs pull them apart and clean them them put it all back together and chances are your airbag light will have gone off. And we are just outside newcastle so dont think the sparky would travel down to you. Anyway you gotta spill the beans and tell us what was wrong with the back lights was it the wrong bulbs
  19. I would start by seeing what voltage the alternator is putting out you want 14.4 volts with the engine running next check the battery is holding the charge Now check every earth best to remove and clean everyone Airbag light is quite a common problem and it normally down to the conection under the pass side carpet ( lift carpet and clean multipluga0 headlights flickering when rev the engine could br earth or a lose bulb/wire brake lights could be a cluster issue as the back lights sometimes get pushed to hard when getting shoved back in and causes a fault. as for the horn i would just live with it dashboard well i seem to remember (not sure mind) that there was a earth issue with these Woul think a good auto electrician would be able to sort this out for around a £100ish what area are you in as we have a good one that we use and is only £35 per hour and hes good
  20. You couldn't of picked a better site to ask that question. if you wait till mr douglas the moderator comes on he will answer your question. because not only does he have a c5 hes also a moderator on a caravan forum so he will answer your question
  21. yes i know them they live in a car and have a 1 nieghbour called engine and the other nieghbour is called gearbox. but before i tell you more we really need a proper question of you you know like engine size/petrol/diesel/ and of course the fault with the clutch many thanks
  22. sorted. finaly got it fixed. It was the bsi unit the software on it was corrupt.caused by power spiking after jump starting another car and after speaking to people theres a proper procedure for jumping another car and a procedure forputting jump leads on most car but mainly for psa group of cars so it includes a citroen then. as when your jumping the regulator on on the running car senses a drain on itself and allows the regulator to put out more power to maintain 14.4v and if you just pull the jump lead of your causing a power surge till the regulator sdjusts itself and 9 out of 10 times is its fine guess our customer was just unlucky but anyway heres the procedure. connect leads making sure you put the negative lead onto the engine of the flat car once the flat car is started do not take the leads off go into the charged car and switch rear demisters on and headlight and fogs. Then remove the leads Now switch the headlight and demisters off one at a time. This allows the regulator to catch up and regulate the power output and were not talking about seconds here its actually miliseconds for it to alter itself but its long enough to fry things
  23. Totally disgusted at what happend in london yesterday, My thoughts are with the soilders family they must be going thru hell right now as no matter how old your children are they are still your little children. something has to be done and done now
  24. Is it the spring on the bonnet itself or the spring in the lock on the slam panel
  25. If they are the correct wheels for the car then the dealer will supply a replacement key if not then sometimes we hammer a socket on anf they come of sometimes have to heat them and sometimes have to burn the stud off so its basicly down to luck. sorry
