broke C5 owner

Anyone else had a major engine breakdown of a C5, 2.2 Hd1 Diesel Engine. Understand that a number were re called due to engine failure. Citroens stance is that its out of warranty, tough. based on vehicle having been serviced at main dealers from new, at approx 12000 mile intervals as per handbook. seems a hard decision. Have major engine problem with C5 HDi 2.2 Exclusive. done 95,000 with no problems, engine has developed a knock, which after flushing shows debri in the sump. Main agent says needs a new engine. Citreon say Tough, out of warranty. Understand that a number of these models were recalled due to engine problems. Any ideas on way forward. Thanks BrokeC5.
