  1. Sorry I have no idea what the error code is. At the time I got the faults checked and cleared I was un aware of anything to do with error codes. I've learned since then but at the time I had no idea. Ray
  2. The garage that diagnosed "ageing cat" is a Citroen specialist. The other garage is a place I've used before but are only a standard repair place. Another website for C5s ( a Yahoo site) regularly has messages from members who use Citroen dealers and have gained no satisfaction from them in attempting to deal with the anti pollution fault. Apparently they pay a small fortune for replacement parts such as coils, plugs etc and the fault shows again before they've even got the car home. They return and the dealers are baffled and they spend even more money trying to resolve it. All this at dealer prices. I repeat that my car runs perfectly and if I can get it through an MOT with the anti pollution fault showing then I will do so. I cannot see any point in paying any garage a small fortune in diagnostic costs and what they deem to be necessary repairs if they do not solve the problem and this seems to be the case all too often. I have arrived at the conclusion that the fault showing is the fault and that nobody seems very sure how to get rid of it ie there may not be a fault to get rid of (hope that makes sense) . It has nothing to do with any petrol sold by Tesco or Morrisons, I've never used supermarket petrol and never will. In my area the best and cheapest petrol is Shell which is frequently 1p a litre cheaper than supermarkets. Ray.
  3. 2 different garages charged the same sum so I am assuming that it is a standard charge for any garage which has that type of equipment. The first garage said that the fault was caused by"an ageing cat". I asked Kwikfit about that and they said a cat either worked or it didn't and they had never heard that expression. The second garage hadn't any idea why the fault was showing after they tried to diagnose it and they told me that they would have to have the car in and "strip it down" to locate the fault. That sounded expensive so I got them to remove the fault and it stayed away for 3 months before re-appearing in December and has been there ever since. If anyone knows a garage in the Tyneside area that can diagnose the fault for a reasonable fee (ie a bit less than £40) then please let me know. Ray.
  4. Hello again, sorry about that I should have given details of my car:- It's a 2001 petrol 2.0i 50,000 on the clock. Ray.
  5. Hello there, I've had the same fault on my C5 since last December and the car is running perfectly and has done since I bought it last August. It is smooth, good acceleration and 30 mpg in urban road conditions. So it does appear that the fault showing doesn't necessarily mean that there is anything wrong with the car. It may be a faulty sensor. I've had the fault appear twice before and paid £40 both times to have it checked and the fault removed. Neither time did 2 different garages know why the fault was there. So this time I left it and there has been no problem with car. Don't know whether that will cause MOT failure. Can anyone advise on that? Ray.
