With a login name like mine I couldn't really be anywhere else. Turns out that it was all a false alarm as when I checked the oil with the old fashoined dipstick it is 1/2 full. The 2 occaissions when I got the pinging in my ears and the screen message 'check your oil level' I had been parked on a slope which must have trggered the warning. Seems my C4 has another dipstick - behind the steering wheel!! Thanks for all your help, I'll check out those service stations.

My C4 HDi VTS requires topping up withy engine oil after 5K miles which is fair enough. I don't think I can get Total Oil locally but can anyone tell me if I require synthetic or mineral oil. The handbook just says Total Quartz Diesel 7000 or 9000. Thanks

My new coupe was like that when I got it in March, sounded as if the doors were going to fall off, especially when the sun was shining. I used a piece of the chalk from a cycle puncture repair kit and rubbed it on all the door seals after I had given the car a good wash including around the doors and door frames. It wasn't an instant remedy as the noise came back a couple of times but it's OK now. Good luck with it

Bought my new HDi VTS from Broach Hill a couple of months ago, they also serviced my Xsara a couple of years ago. Best Citroen dealer I've dealt with so far.

Checked my VTS today (Mar 07 reg), the rear side windows are marked as laminated and if you open the door windows and look along the edge of the glass you can see and feel the lamination. Not sure about the glass in the hatch part, didn't look there.

Just seen this weeks Auto Express, it would appear that Citroen are to release 2 new models. One is shown on the cover http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpr...to_express.html The other is detailed inside and is a hybrid version of the C4 coupe based on the 1.6 110 diesel model and to be released in 2008. Not sure when the other is due out.

It's not just us C4 drivers that have the problem either, when I had my Toyota and logged on to their forum it was a common complaint there as well I had the auto wipers on my Xsara but then my Avensis didn't but I'm glad I've got the auto wipers back on the C4

Have you sent them a photo of your car, it may give Citroen a clue as to the model you have :)

My Xsara 1.6 SX had the same size tyre on the spare as those on the car because I had it swapped with one of the tyres on the alloys and bought another new one for the other side. Can't do this on the C4 as its not the same size!!

I've just been checking the spare wheel on my HDI VTS and noticed that the tyre size is 205/55 x 16 which is different the the tyres on the car which are 205/50 x 17. I suppose that the different aspect ratio of 55 instead of 50 means that the overall diameter is the same. Can anyone tell me that this is the normal spare wheel size for C4's with 17" wheels before I go back to the dealer for its 1k checkover. Thanks

Hi All Just put a protective strip on the house wall so I can open the passenger door without scraping the paint off and I can now just get to the bonnet release lever so all is well and no cutting needed!! Never had a car with so many gadgets on it's a real adventure discovering them all, could take months. Cheers

Can Ijust say that after looking at this forum for the last six months that i am now a fully paid up member an not an interloper. Yesterday I picked up my new HDI VTS in shiny black so today I am studying the handbook to see what all the options are and do. The only thing I think will be a pain is the damned cover over the bonnet release lever which is attached to the passenger door which has to be opened quite wide to get access to the lever. As I can't open the door wide enough on the drive or in the garage I can see a slot being cut in the cover so I can access the lever.

They were still shown as standard fit on HDI VTS models in September 06 and that's what I thought I would be getting when I placed my order in January so I was a bit pi??ed off to learn that Citroen had made it a £500 option. Suppose I'll just have to wait and see what I get when it arrives. Phil

In 1988 I had a Citroen BX which as you will know had the hydropneumatic suspension. After some heavy snow our car park at work was full of the white stuff and while others were struggling I jacked up the suspension and park up with no trouble at all. However the trouble came later after work. When I got back to the car some 8 hours later you know what happens to the BX after that length of time the suspension settles and the car sinks as if the suspension has collapsed which I suspose it does through lack of pressure. Unfortunately the snow had not gone just frozen and my car had settled into the snow which was now several inches up the door and frozen solid. Tried kicking it away but the door was well stuck so I had to crawl in through the tailgate start the engine and jack up the suspension to clear the snow. Luckily when I got home the doors had thawed out so I could exit the car in a more civilised manner. Took me some time to live that one down at work. Phil

Hi All I've finally ordered my 2.0 HDi VTS for delivery at end of March. I was told that the 2.0 diesel servicing was every 20k miles whereas the 1.6 was every 12,500 miles. Is this wrong information? Right back to counting the days off the calendar...... Phil
