  1. Well I've gone and bought a 62 plate Peugeot 508 Estate . Got the 2.0 Hdi engine and 6 speed manual box , same as my C5. I'd like to say thanks to you all for your help over the years. I'll look in from time to time to see what's happening in the world of C5's I do have one question - I need to fit aftermarket parking sensors to the 508 - do I take the power feed from one of the bulb holders of the reversing lights or will I be able to get a feed from a towbar electrics socket (if I can find it) without throwing the electrical system into confusion ?
  2. I think you'll need the proper Lexia to reset the fluid level
  3. I'm wondering if the seal is leaking
  4. £55 each for new tyres isn't bad Look up the price for 215 55 16's for a Mk2 and Michelins are £140 + !
  5. I'd take a chance on an E Bay sensor if it was mine.
  6. In 2006 when mine was new Citroen guaranteed the hydraulic suspension for 5years /125K miles. Don't knowm if this applies on Mk3 Exclusives but worth checking
  7. Can you get them cheaper from a Bosch servive centre ?
  8. I thought Citroen guaranteed the suspension for 5 years /125K miles ? They did when mine was new in 2006
  9. Lexia does tell you which sensor has failed
  10. Strange thing is my tyres are wearing on the outsides which is the opposite of what I'd expect with negative camber . Not squeaking today now it's rained but I'll phone around for the bits I probably need
  11. My rear suspension is creaking . Worse in the recent hot weather ,.I can sit on the rear bumper and bounce the car up and down often without a sound but then sometimes as it settles after being turned off , it lets out a creaking sound. I've sprayed the bearing areas with WD40, chain lube etc and it stops for a few days Is there a test for worn bearings ? With the car jacked up and the suspension on high , I'm guessing the radius arm is under too much load to detect any wear Where's best to get the bearing kit?
  12. I was thinking he'd gone to Kwik Fit for his MOT ! I agree , just wipe down the struts and you'll be OK
  13. I should have mentioned that my speedo needle slipped on the new motor's shaft and I tried glue/loctite with no success .I thought the shaft might be cracked so I put 3 bits of heatshrink on it , one after the other , and squashed the end of the motor's spindle in the vice to make it flatter/fatter slightly .So far, so good
  14. It's not worn radius arm bearings , is it?
  15. Eurocarparts are doing 25% off 5 litres of oil plus a free filter You need to order online though
  16. I never knew they did a 6 spd gearbox in 2002. My 2006 C5 has an oil drain plug under the gearbox right against the chassis making it hard to get a tool in place. Then you refill it with a measured amount of oil through the breather hole on top
  17. I think the 2.2 engine only came with the auto box on post face-lift models
  18. Maybe it's to prove you own the vehicle rather than any technical reason Did you ask why?
  19. So it's not my imagination !
  20. It might be my imagination but I think I get the worst mpg using Sainsbury's diesel and even Tescos is better
  21. Is there much difference - apart from the badge, between a 508 and a C5VTR. They both have steel springs. That's what I'm thinking .Not as well specified though- no powerfolding mirrors amd no privacy glass The 12 plate Exclusive seems to have sold within days
  22. Perhaps I should focus my anger and energies on preventing my mother from getting conned again .This wasn't the first time and I suspect it won't be the last.
  23. We've tried all the usual sources regarding these cowboy roofers with no success .I wanted to start a website so that when anyone did a search on their name , they would see what happened . I realise I need to keep it factual Tax runs out on my C5 at the end of ther month . I've seen a 12 plate Exclusive Estate with all the trimmings but it's miles away LOADS of 508's around .
  24. Mine had this problem when it was under guarantee so I assume I got a new strut fitted .It took the garage quite a while to find the problem
  25. Never knew I had a message box ! I'd be happy to be a moderator but I don't know if I'm keeping the old C5 .It's getting on in years and miles .Toying with getting a Peugeot 508 estate , like a C5 but simpler and cheaper. I'll let you know what happens John , was it you behind a website " I hate L*vek*ns" ( or similar)? I want to do something similar to a firm of builders that took £2800 off my elderly mother for roof work that wasn't needed
