  1. Of the 3 options offered, I would dicsount 1, as the steering lock wasn't on. Also, if 3 were the case then would the switch now work? I suspect not, but I'd be happy to be corrected. This leaves option 2. Which is quite possible. But it's now working fine, and has done twice a day since it was "fixed". Of course, there is another option - that there was something stuck in the lock, which now isn't there. If it happens again, then yes I'll get it looked at, but having spoken to the bod who was going to get my hard earned, and still will, he sin't overly concerned, so nor am I. Sticking my head in the sand? Far from it, but I'm happy it's ok. Should I go running for a diagnostic check every time I get a quirky message on the info display? Cos if not, I'd be sticking my head in the sand wouldn't I?
  2. charges less for what???????? It works fine now. And what would I have checked? They're not a serviceable item.
  3. You know, I'm pretty sure that if that Eolys fluid were not needed, then Citroen would not go to all the trouble of building the system into the FAP equipped cars. :)
  4. Not had a side wind problem with mine either
  5. Which part of the country are you in? someone may be able to suggest a better indy. I certainly don't get anything like what you describe (thankfully!) although you could well be driving on rougher roads than me.
  6. You could try bleeding the hydraulics - there is no other adjustment
  7. H3+ has 3 buttons iirc. My 02 SX does not have sport mode - only 2 buttons. I understand that on Mk 1 C5's it was only Exclusive models that had H3+. What do you find disappointing about the H3? Mine is excellent - maybe you have a fault?
  8. I suspect that the "buzzing" is a relay chattering because of low battery power.
  9. Sounds to me like your battery is still flat.
  10. It won't happen at 70 on the motorway though will it? I won't need to turn the key once the thing's running.
  11. thanks Stasi, much appreciated. Before reading your reply I fixed it!!!!!!!! I put some contact cleaner into the lock, worked the key in and out a few times then smacked the end of the key with a hammer. The lock moved a small amount, then I was able to turn it and it now seems to be ok. When I pull the key our now there is a spring loaded something inside that's springing back. It wasn't doing this when the lock was stuck, so I guess something somewhere was indeed jammed. Looks like I'll be keeping the old girl a little while longer.
  12. Oh this is hilarious..........................just got a price from my local indy................best part of £500 to supply and fit the ignition lock. More if I want the door locks to match. So.......if I attack the ignition lock with a screwdriver and hammer, will I be able to get the steering lock undone, as it's currently locked? Thinking if this will work I may as well drive it with the lock butchered as spend £500 on something I really don't need........ Or can anyone tell me how to change the barrel myself?
  13. thanks - it was fine yesterday - seems odd it failed overnight
  14. Came out to the car this morning to go to work. Doors opened fine, put the key in the ignition and cannot turn it. Got to the point of thinking the remote fob was going to break off so went and found the spare key, tried that, same thing. Steering lock was not engaged. Is there some clever solenoid interlock malarky on the ignition switch or is this likely to be a "simple" mechaincal failure of the lock?
  15. ooooohhhh Service Light reset..................wow!
  16. Chevronics in Arlesey, Beds. Loan car available. Excellent service and tea.
  17. Been quoted £225 for the cambelt change by the Indy that I use for all my servicing. Also recommended to have the water pump checked and replaced if any signs of scale on the shaft at an extra £100. Service is about £150 on top of that lot.
  18. that will be a first then!
  19. Pretty sure there was mention of a modification kit from one of the resident Citroen techies.
  20. akaik Citroen say that the suspension shouldn't need looking at for 125k miles. Suggests it's pretty well sorted. 86k on mine now, and no suspension issues................quickly touching wood.
  21. wow brake squeal - doesn't really bother me. I use an Indy and he always returns my car squeal free after a service. 5000 miles later it's back again. Hardly life threatening. Poor recording of service details? You mean you didn't check they'd stamped the book when you left the garage, or what?
  22. I commute 50 miles each day on the A1, with a bit of urban work at either end. My average is now 42 mpg up from 39 mpg. All due to deliberately driving very gently on the accelerator, and not going over 75mph. I did manage a 46 mpg tankfull once.
  23. Sounds like your MAF meter may be on the blink
  24. Same here - no reversing sensor.
