  1. You have such a lot of choice in that area of the market these days although you are not too specific about how many seats you need and if you want a real rag top or a tin top convertible. Let's see, all of the following make or have made something you could look at... Volvo Saab Vauxhall, VX220, Tigra, Astra (old and new) Alfa Romeo, Spider Fiat, barchetta Citroen, Pluriel (not my best soft top experience) Rover, MGF BMW, 6 series, 3 series, Mini Lotus, Elise Audi, A series, TT Chevrolet, Corvette Dodge, Viper Honda, S2000 VW, Eos, Beetle and as you don't mention any budget restrictions... Ferrari Lamborghini Maserati Aston Martin If you have never owned a soft top before I would say you have to expect some sort of leak at some time in the cars life and if you go for an older car the service intervals will probably be shorter than anything on the market now. That said if you get a car you like the look of you will always be starring out the window at it, washing and polishing it and going out in any dry weather, no matter what the temperature, to experience that top down feeling  Ian Black 55 VTR+
  2. Now you are just not thinking like an estate agent... I'd like to buy the car with the built in cocktail shaker. Place your cocktail in the cup holder and apply the brakes...shaken not stirred Mr Bond? Ian Black 55 VTR+
  3. I've done Modena to Dorking, passing through 7 countries, in about 15 hours. That was with 2 drivers, only stopping for fuel and the chunnel. Have to say driving through the Alps in an open top 2 seater is a glorious experience. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  4. I have the auto door locking on, so if any door is open and you get above 6mph you will get a warning beep and the display will show which door is open. The main display should already be showing if any door is open before you pull away but if it does not the fact the doors can't auto lock should give the warning beep. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  5. According to this website http://www.autointell-news.com/european_co...l-1998-2002.htm Citroen produce about 157,000 C5 per year. How many complaints have you read about 10, 50, 100, 1000? If you take full production from 2001 (6 years) that's over 942,000 cars. Even if you have read 5,000 complaints that is about 0.5 percent of all of the cars out there. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  6. Best way to choose is a test drive. A senso will roll backwards on a hill an auto will hold itself. A senso will do nothing until you press the throttle an auto will crawl forward A senso will pause for 5 seconds and choose snow mode if it is too cold and slippery an auto will just spin the wheels and move off. (This is fun at roundabouts and junctions). Ian Black 55 VTR+
  7. You're welcome kfk. :P I know the question has been asked a few times on the forums along with some of the other things mentioned in the TIPS and QUESTIONS sections of that Pluriel site. Forums are OK but they need a lot of searching to get specific bits of info. Ian Black 55 VTR +
  8. Who is more of an eeejit, then person opening and closing car doors or the people wasting time watching him? At least you were doing what you were doing for a reason. Doesn't take much to draw a crowd, just stop on a busy pavement and look up at the sky. See how long it is before people walking past start to look up to see what you are staring at. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  9. Go to this website http://www.c3pluriel.org.uk/ Click on the TIPS button and then choose Imperial to metric, there is a step by step guide with pictures. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  10. Merc owner on the news had a total bill inc VAT for £1081 Ian Black 55 VTR+
  11. I can see so many ways people will try to get around the technology. You can by chips and remaps for engine management so it wouldn't be long before you could get some sort of device or software patch to do things to the toll box in the car. If a car passes a toll box sensor and the sensor gets no signal from the car it would have to take a photo to get the number plate and prove where it was at a certain time. This would just lead to more number plate theft. And who would be checking car odometers against toll box readings, not your local dealer as they would need access to the governments database for the toll box info and then you would get the lawyers discussing human rights and data protection acts. Like the man said...kamikaze politics. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  12. This also makes the fuel level increase :D Ian Black 55 VTR+
  13. Current car owner taxes include... VAT on purchase price of car Vehicle excise duty (car tax) Tax on insurance premium Tax on fuel VAT on all parts and servicing VAT on parking charges I am sure there are a few more hidden taxes. If they remove ALL of the above then I might be inclined to agree with pay as you go charges but I think I pay enough at the moment. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  14. You need to give the diesel about 10,000 miles to loosen up, by 20,000 miles it's a different car  Ian Black 55 VTR+
  15. I assume by oxygen sensors they are meaning lambda sensors. Might be worth looking at this site if you have the problem... http://www.lambda-sensor.co.uk/ Ian Balck 55 VTR+
  16. Impressive on paper, but how much hassling do you have to do get a repair done under warranty? And 7 years on a ragtop...I bet wear and tear wins before a warranty replaced roof. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpr...2/kia_ceed.html Ian Black 55 VTR+
  17. Report the incident to the police tell them you want to sue for criminal damage. They may not be able to do anything. However, being the police they will have access to any local CCTV footage and may be able to get a number plate and address for the oiks. This assumes they were not driving a stolen car. There was a spate of egg throwing in Coventry a few years ago. The targets were open windows on cars and houses. Ian Black VTR+
  18. Just see if you can buy the C4 WRC Or wait to see what engine they put in the C4 Citroen Sport, if the concept ever becomes reality. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  19. I got my VTR+ from Citroen Birmingham. They are very good at price matching and doing deals. I found the service dept a bit disorganised but the salesman was very helpful. As long as you are not in a hurry and can explain any issues you have clearly they seem to be a good dealership. Pulling onto the outside lane of the dual carriageway as you exit the dealers is always fun too :) a good test of the cars 0-40mph time. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  20. That's the thing with the C4 wipers if you don't know they are not a standard pull and lift type. Just need to get a fly poster leaving leaflets under wipers, a traffic light squeeegiest, parking attendant leaving a ticket or spotty oik just lifting all wiper blades and they can get damaged. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  21. Not sure how far you are prepared to travel for good service. I use Belmont (in Edinburgh) they seem to be OK. The nearest branch they have to Aberdeen is Dundee. I suppose you could give them a try to see if they are worth the 130 mile round trip. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  22. Do you have manual A/C or climate control? With climate control you get a front screen blaster button, fan to warp faactor 9, air flow with a/c to the screen. Very noisy but gets the job done, usually in under 5 mins. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  23. I don't doubt that with a full satellite lock the GPS is more accurate. That is 1 thing I like about the eMap it shows you where it is getting its signals from, how strong they are and how acurate it's tracking is at any time. That still didn't stop it displaying 0MPH or freezing at a previous reading for a few seconds while it locked on to a different satellite, could show 30MPH when you were doing 40MPH. Built up areas, cloudy days and other atmospheric conditions can also affect accuracy Ian Black 55 VTR+
  24. My speedo matched my old Garmin eMap and now my Garmin Nuvi very closely. I would always doubt the GPS before the speedo as it relies on calculations based on more than 1 signal. You should notice the MPG get better with age, my 1.6 Hdi (110) seems to have a step change about every 10k. Have to say it feels much better with close to 21k on the clock than it did when it was brand new. Ian Black 55 VTR+
  25. I have 2 solutions for this, a couple of rubber bands and a piece of card or just lower the visor to it's 1st click not all the way to the window. The bottom edge of the visor will be pointing at your head but it keeps more of the screen covered. Ian Black 55 VTR+
