  1. or bayonet on a Mk 2 Piece of advice - only buy bulbs from Citroen main dealer. They are no dearer then aftermarket bulbs, but will last a lot longer..
  2. Is it worse going across the gate? (2nd to 3rd or 4th to 5th)? If so it sounds like gear linkage. £100-ish for the part, from memory. A common fault on C5's and Picasso's . When I had this trouble, I was having to use 2 hands to get from 1st to 2nd when the engine was cold ( don't ask me how I was steering - I wasn't!)
  3. It shouldn't lift until you sit in it, then you'll hear the electric motor cut in and it will lift itself to offset your weight. As you drive, it will automatically adjust height - I believe there are something like 27 levels accessible to the suspension software. Occasionally it will lift or sink slightly when you press the unlock button on the key, depending how level it was when you locked it.
  4. This is turning into an interesting thread! When the mk3 c5 came out I got an invite to the local main dealer for their launch do, and got talking to the salesman who told me it was a "shared technogy" car, with Audi and the dreaded Toyota being the other parties. Given Toyota's problems, which started in 2008 and got hushed up until 2010, these multiple problems kind of make sense. There are a few posts on here about brake response/failure which are really scary. I notice the Peugeot 508 has just come out - looks like a C5 clone, hopefully better made. Sounds like Citroen have some serious work to do.
  5. not so good, wish I could type!!
  6. I was talking about the Laguna 3 (2008 onwards). If you go on What Car site, ignore the "professional" reviews and look at the reader comments - it gets full marks. No problems reported. The older model was not do good...
  7. Hmm looks like a Renault Laguna next time for me then ( sorry about the swear words)
  8. Ok - while you are waiting for Citroen UK to see sense, have you done any research on the vendor who sold you the car? Have they got form? previous judgements etc? If so, they are more likely to cave in to threat of legal action. They may well have bought the car at auction without knowing of the problems, but that's their business risk. They can't get away with selling you a car that's not fit for purpose. Unfortunately, dodgy cars are fed into the used car market every day. Main dealers send trade-ins to auction to distance themselves from any liability, but they are acting immorally, if not illegally, if they knowingly pass on a problem like this. That's the angle you should be working on with Citroen Keep going and don't give up.
  9. There are three bulbs in this display, so if the illimination is out and the radio isn't working, very unlikely to be all 3 bulbs. Check the fuse marked "navigation system" in the handbook ( it's in the glovebox). This protects the radio and centre display
  10. 205 is the width of the wheel, so yes you would need new wheels 15 or 16 is the diameter, so again you would need new wheels 55 is the percentage of the wall height compared with the width Al in all, best stick with 195/65/15's the wobble ususally means balancing is needed. You may need to check that the tyre fitters have the necessary attachment for balancing Citroen alloys. The centre piece is fixed, so the wheels won't go on standard balancing kit
  11. A fitted and pogrammed Canbus adaptor will probably cost more than your radio. Try connecting it using the standard ISO connector first, and see how it works. PeteC3 - is it possible to use just the standard menu button on the radio to get into things like setting the car clock, selecting directional function on the headlights and all that stuff? Who did your installation? Thanks
  12. Hi Sorry to hear this tale of woe! As I see it, you have 2 options here 1 - sue the people who sold you the car. £4k for a 6 year old car has to be top dollar, and it really should have been warranted for a year at that price. If you can provide proof of its recent history, and the fact they ignored your fault report, I think you have a fair chance of success. Did you get a warranty with it, by the way? 2 - get on to Citroen UK in Slough, and ask for a contribution. My son works in the post-warranty dealer desk for Renault, and you'd be surprised what they pay for out of warranty. If this is a known fault and the car has a decent service history, they should certainly look favourably on it, especially as their own main dealer has been involved (You talk about Citroen in Reading, not sure if you mean Slough) Don't let them fob you off, and make a nuisance of yourself. Threaten them with consumer groups, BBC watchdog etc if you have to. You could also talk to Citizens advice, who should be able to give you some free legal advice. Good luck
  13. no good as sidelights then?
  14. I put an aftermarket radio in my C5 (mk 1) without a canbus adaptor and it worked fine, although it didn't come on and off with the ignition , manually turned on and off, no problem really. I couldn't do that on my current mk2 though, as the menu button accesses loads of the car's functions . Have to stay with the facory - fitted unit (Blaupunkt RD4). I don't think this is the case with the Xsara
  15. Ok - i thought by "Internet site" it was a business selling cars, but if it's truly a private seller ( whose name should be on the V5) you don't have much comeback.
  16. Have you spoken to the vendor? Despite what they might say about "sold as seen", they have a legal responsiblity for the first 90 days after any sale. Statutory rights. I'm sure they wouldn't want adverse publicity, so I would put some pressure on them.
  17. something wrong here. C5 tank can't take 115 litres if you mean 115 euro at 1.3, that's 88 litres, still too much for a c5. When I'm filling up with the warning light on, I get about 55 litres in
  18. No - if the tank was empty at start, full at end, that would take 55 litres out of the calculation. 900 miles on (167.5-55) 112.5 litres is 8 mpl or 36mpg. Must have spent some of those euro on weed!
  19. 110 euro at 80p? need to divide by the euro price, or did you mean 80 cents?
  20. hi steve divide £95 by the price per litre you were paying in the UK (probabaly around 1.30 now) divide 110 euro by the euro price you paid in holland then add the 2 together gives you the total litres. divide that by 4.5 to give the gallons then divide that into 900 miles cheers and happy new year geoff
  21. http://www.motorpoint.co.uk/(S(k4u1yg550v321y45pr2ytf55))/Search/VehicleDetails.aspx?vehicle=301514 60 reg mk 2? where did they get that from?
  22. Lots of information here, including reference to a recall, and dealing with Citroen. They definitely have heard about this! http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/index.php?showtopic=6817
  23. I bought a cheap and cheerful one from ebay. It reads the codes OK., and comes with a code listing to tell you what they mean. It doesn't however reset the engine light, which it claims to be able to.(this was on a 2002 petrol C5, not used it on my current 2008 car)
  24. seefive

    Clock

Press "menu" on the radio and you should be able to find it - "vehicle parameters" I think I don't have sat nav, but I do have the same (RD4) radio, and that contains all the settings and options - directional lights, auto lights, time, date, languages etc.
  25. Why not get a cheap rubber "shell" and insert your key into it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CITROEN-C2-C3-C4-C5-C8-3-BUTTON-FLIP-UNCUT-KEY-FOB-CASE-/280603778960?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item415549df90>
