  1. Hi All sorry to post this here but cannot find any where to post for parts I am looking for a replacement tailgate for my 2006 Citroen C5 1.6 HDI VTR+ paint code EYLC Iceland Grey. Been looking on ebay I have found two tailgates both wrong colour and found 4 estates being broken again wrong colour. Can anyone help please.
  2. Hi All, Whilst driving home along Eastbourne sea front last Saturday at bout 4:10 pm weather dry and clear. I had to stop in a line of traffic a lady driver then drove in to the back of me causing damage to the tailgate. She has ammitted liability for the accident and agreed to pay for repairs. New tailgate shell form Citroen £661.00 painting, swapping all parts from old tailgate and fitting £1000.00 car is a write off. Contract repair second hand tailgate £50 to £100 spraying and fitting £250.00. I have put in a claim with Hastings Direct who want to collect the car and take it for assessment but after reading some of the posts on here I am reluctant to let them take it. Can I ask for the car to go to my own repairer. I have done alot of repairs to this car since I first purchased it and it now runs a dream infact on a long run I get 74mpg.
  3. Hi All Has any one ever changes the seals in the suspension struts as I have advisories from my last MOT saying:- 1) Both rear ssuspension units leaking and damp very close to excess. 2) Both rear brake back plates damp. 3) Both front shock units damp.
  4. All of these quick fit centres do not fill me with any confidents where servicing and repairs are concerned. My Suggestion would to purchase all the items you need i.e wheel bearings, disc and pads (look on Ebay some very good deals on their) then find a small independant garage and get a quote for fitting.
  5. That sound about normal for most garages. I had a peugeot 406 2.2 hdi estate that supposedly had a gearbox fault. On taking it in for an MOT their was a loud grinding noise coming from the front near side. The MOT tester raised the front of the car and spun both front wheels. Any way they passed the car as they could not hear any noise or feel any excess movement on the wheel bearing. On stripping the front near side hub of the car the front near side wheel bearing was completely shot. I suspect this is the same problem you have RichCliff.
  6. Hi All I have a 2006 C5 1.6 HDI estate 5 speed manual cable linkage and I love the car but for one thing and that is the amount of travel on the gear shift between 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear its like driving a truck and spoils the driving pleasure. Does anyone know how I can reduce this travel or is their an upgrade to cure this.
  7. To get the compression back I used a fully charged battery and my booster charger turned it over on the key for about 20 seconds each time and it took about 30 attempts then fired up. As for cleaning the cat and dpf I closed off the (small inlet to the turbo) on the cat and filled it up with Coca Cola. I also did the same on the DPF and left them for about 18 hours. I then jet washed both Items and dried them with a airline. Just need to fit the new seal set when it arrives and a new clamp on the DPF to front pipe to cure a blow on thier. I then cleared al the fault code with my Lexia and ran a global diagnostics No faults codes except one for the steering angle sensor this has been thier since I purchased the car so new Comms 2000 unit to cure this fault.
  8. Good news car now running and sounding better than ever and very responsive. Just one small problem on the cat and dpf. It would appear to have been taken apart before I purchased the car and who ever reassembled it failed to fit the seals between the to halves. So will be ordering them next week.
  9. Thank you for the replies. Still investigating the problem but believe it may be down to the replacement cam carrier. The car had a new (Heller) EGR valve fitted just after I purchased it due to running problems had a cheap Ebay replacement one on it found receipt in the boot. Will keep you posted.
  10. Hello All Some help needed please I have a 2006 C5 VTX+ 1.6 HDI it had a problem with the exhaust camshaft (missing tooth) this cause the chain to stretch and wore a 4mm grove in the cam ladder, So purchased a good second user one of EBAY abd fitted a new chain and tensioner. Timed up according to my Haynes manual mark on the cams at 10 oclock and 2 oclock when rotated 40 times the mark come back to their original position. The Cam followers where then compressed in a small vice to close them up and the cam ladder refitted. A new water pump has been fitted along with a new cambelt and tensioner. This has been timed up with crankshaft timing mark at 12 oclock, Fuel pump timing mark at 5 oclock and camshaft timing mark at 11 oclock using the correct timing pins. The problem I am having is that their seems to be no compression or very little. Has anyone else had this problem. Thank You
  11. Had the loom out today and found some chaffing on the loom that exposed the 5 volt red supply wire and damaged the insulation so cut the wire slide some heat shrink over and resoldered the wire repaired the outer insulation and refitted the loom. Checked with Lexia cleared the fault codes and all seems OK.
  12. Thank You for the reply. The battery has been tested and holds 12volts with the engine running I have 14.6volts accross the battery. I have had a closer look today and it seem to have had the gearbox removed at some point possibly for a new clutch and the engine wiring loom has been badly refitted. So I am going to remove the air filter and related hoses so I can get a better look at it. As I suspect there may be some damage to it i.e broken wire or damage to the insulation allowing a cable to short and loos the 5 volt supply to the rail sensor. Will keep you posted.
  13. Hi All I have a 2006 Citroen C5 1.6 HDI estate 5 Speed Manual Gearbox which has developed a fault. The symtoms are If I pull away in first gear the engine goes into total shutdown and gives an error depolution fault. The only way to start the car again is to turn of the ignition put the car into nutral and wait 10 seconds the car will then start. I can rev the engine but still get the depolution fault. However i can start the car and pullaway in second gear with no problem but still get the depolution fault error. I have scanned it with my Lexia and have error code 1586 rail pressure, flow meter, egr valve copysensor supply and supply voltage to low. Live Data Rail Pressure 265 bar on tickover rising to 400 bar at 1500 rpm Any advise please.
