  1. Congratulations. That's a great outcome.
  2. The switch at the rear of the load area only moves the boot floor up or down to assist loading. As soon as a door is closed, the car returns to normal height. That's how it should work. Do you mean that the height doesn't change at all?
  3. The clips are manufactured from spring steel. They are curved and as they are forced on to the stem, they straighten and the raised edges bite into the stem. If they are removed, they are probably destroyed and new ones will be required. The Citroen part number 7427 52 and very likely come in bags of 10 or so.
  4. Yes - C5's are big cars to fit in normal sized garages. Mine has spent its entire life in the open air. If your car has a good service history, 147K miles is nothing. The Xsara in my family fleet has the same engine as yours and is on 125000. Some C5s on the forum have reached 300K. Does your service record mention any auto gearbox oil changes? Citroen claim that they are sealed for life but many auto owners prefer to have regular oil changes carried out.
  5. The upload facility on the forum is on the blink at the moment. It's possible to upload your pictures to somewhere like Photobucket then post the link from there. Regarding your leak from the rear suspension it sounds as though the seals have gone. It's possible to replace just the seals but if you need a new unit they are around £150 from a Cit dealer.
  6. I don't know about the 1.6 engine but on the 2ltr model the plug is in the centre of the fuel rail - on the underside. It's a real 'B' to reach and before the plug can be removed a small clip needs to be lifted. Really needs two hands to remove the plug but there's hardly room for one hand in there.
  7. Nice to hear you're enjoying the car. What's the mileage of it? Has it any service history?
  8. I've spent the afternoon wiring a 12S socket on the rear end of my new C5 Tourer. I've got it all done and working except for the reverse lights connection. Can anyone tell me where there's an easy reach pickup point?
  9. When you unlock the car the suspension pump brings the car up ready to start so each time the door is unlocked, it's an unnecessary drain on the battery.
  10. Could it be that there's a safety device in the setup which won't allow you to programme whilst the vehicle is moving.
  11. Since it's freecycle get it and try it. If it's been used on a BX estate, it won't fit the Picasso because the estate version of the BX has its own roof rails that the bars clamp to. Edit PS. If you're looking for a sound roof box, I have a Halfords 420Ltr box for sale. They retail at just under £160 but this one is up for £40. It would need collecting however from NE Surrey.
  12. Welcome to the forum and we hope you enjoy your C5. Regarding the uploading of pictures - yes it's been like that for several weeks. I do mine through Photobucket by copying and pasting the link. I'll bring the fault to the notice of Admin.
  13. If you drop down to 15" wheels (presuming they will fit) they might look a bit odd. Also your milometer and speedo will give a wrong reading. Have you explored the full range of 215.55Rx16". The last tyres I put on my C5 were Nexen at £65 per corner - fitted, balanced and old tyre disposed of. You probably won't find 15" much cheaper.
  14. A wheel sensor is around £40 for a new one plus the time for fitting it.
  15. It's a comparatively easy job to replace brake pads and discs and there's no reason at all why the abs light should be on after completing the work. If the light is on there's something wrong. Even if the fault code was erased and the light turned off, the fault would return when the car was driven. Don't know for sure, but it probabl;y wouldn't pass an MOT with the light on. I would be asking for the seller to get it right before buying.
  16. The washer covers are available from a Citroen dealer. They are the greatest rip-off of all time. For the C5 they cost £24.50 for the two. You have to buy the pair, and they come unpainted so you need matching paint as well. Should you need the spray bars, they will cost you another £220. I don't think the rear washer is an MOT issue however, the headlamp washers were included in the new regs that came in on 1st January. They must now work together with the self-levelling of the lamps.
  17. I know just how you feel. I felt the same when I parted company with my C5 last week. Very much the same as if I were leaving my poor old pet with the vet.
  18. If your car is fitted with xenon headlights, by law they have to have washers (which is an MOT item now). On a C5 there are two oblong panels which act as covers for the washers. Only when the headlights are on and the windscreen wiper lever is pulled, the panels with the washer stalks shoot out - about 7" and spray two long jets of water at the headlamps. After the wash is over, the stalks retract and the covers go back into place. Here's a picture of a C5 xenon headlamp. Notice the lens - rather like a big magnifying glass. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i53/Johndug/P1030616abc.jpg

  20. If you're at all doubtful about your pump, fit a new one. I recently fitted one of these from Eurocarparts. Cost less than a tenner. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citroen_C5_2.0_2005/p/car-parts/car-body-parts-and-car-exhaust/wipers/car-washer-system/?488545100&1&6e76d86589e3875bbeab44ef302d7804bd7d9624&000599
  21. Hello & welcome to the forum. I too joined the Citroen brigade 24 years ago with a BXTZD estate and have had each new model as it came along. Just recently I parted with my 2005 Exclusive C5 and changed to a steel sprung VTR+ model. So far I'm very impressed with the ride quality. Only on very rough roads can I tell that I haven't got hydropnuematic suspension under me. The big test will come when I hitch up the caravan. I know I'm going to miss the ability to raise and lower the suspension when coupling up. Whether or not I'll be aware of the lack of self-levelling, is something I'll find out after I've got a towbar fitted. At the mo, I'm still awaiting delivery.
  22. So if you have xenon headlights, that's why you have the second washer pump. The headlamp washers uses their own pump. Your windscreen washer pump will go in reverse to wash the rear screen.
  23. Does your car happen to have HID headlamps?
  24. It's just the case and the buttons you'd be using. Transfer your own innards into it.
