  1. In this info pined someplace, in big flashing text, "Do Not Install Windows 10" ? It's in the top scrolling info banner. Green text is information, red text is warning. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d1/pixpad/NoWin10.png
  2. Perhaps you missed it, but there's a info/notification in Diagbox that warns not to install Win10.
  3. As a guess, it might be low on refrigerant. These ECU's often perform a number of monitoring calculations and if any come back as errant,it will take remedial action. Sometimes this remedial action is as drastic as refusing to allow the system to continue to operate. However, the best route you should try and follow is to get a proper diagnostic test done on the relevant system. Another possible option you might want to consider is taking the car to an A/C service centre. The will drain out the old refrigerant (and oil) by vacuum pump and check to see if the system has any leaks (as evidenced by the vacuum dropping). It would be pointless and irresponsible to try and refill a leaking system so this test is inherent and should be strictly adhered to. If they report your system is leaking, you have your diagnosis. If it isn't, they will refill with the required amount of refrigerant and lubricating oil and all should be well for the immediate future. Bare in mind, the system will naturally leak a small amount over time (hence why it's worth getting the A/C serviced at least every two years). If the A/C isn't used for a certain time (monthly is recommended) the seals can begin to dry from lack of lubricant, increasing the risk of leakage.
  4. Have you tried setting the wipers to manual (as opposed to auto)? It might turn off the window auto-close function also. Otherwise, perhaps there's a deeply buried option in Diagbox/Lexia to change?
  5. I also have this annoying flatspot/hesitation or whatever it is. After reading this thread and repeating it elsewhere, someone informed me my EGR doesn't have a vac solenoid and on checking the car (and Haynes) I see he's right, it's opened and closed by a stepper motor. In my case, I plan to remove and clean my EGR as there's a lot of soot deposited around the cooler that needs fixing too, otherwise I have no idea what else could be causing this problem as it's not confined to low rpm (it'll manifest around 3krpm if I apply more throttle and hold for higher revs before gear change). ie, it seems to correlate more to the brief "off-throttle and back on-throttle" period when changing gears, rather than a specific rpm zone on acceleration. Additionally, in #28 re the assertion "The egr valve should only work when warmed up..." etc. I was prompted to check this as I was sure I've seen live data from my EGR before it was fully warmed up and sure enough found out I was right. Okay, we're in the middle of summer but I have a recording showing coolant temp on startup was 16C and the EGR was being commanded to open almost instantly. It's certainly fully active from cold.
  6. Thanks for the welcome, Paul and John. Yes the DV6 does require extra special consideration, it seems. Whether I'm up to the task is a different matter but the mind is willing so that's a start. I did register after finding the common problems thread (through a google search) and other threads here, trying to get a better understanding of my car. First job I did was oil and filters change plus re-tightening the injectors and other jobs are in the pipeline too. And par for the course, as I learn more I notice other jobs need doing as well. So expect to hear more from me (usually pleading for help, but willing to share my own experiences if it'll help others too). I also have the Lexia (and an old original Diag2000 workstation) but with a xantia TD there's not much scope for learning how to use it effectively. This C5 is a different matter altogether and my learning curve has just taken a sharp incline so expect questions on that topic also.

  8. Hello, Just joined. Have been long-time member of FCF (username MikeT) but thought I'd broaden my horizons now I've up(?)graded from Xantia's to C5 (DV6-powered restyled Estate).
