bazleo21 Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Having just purchased my second ax. I have come across a problem with it over heating. I am aware that in order to top up the rad you must bleed it. Where are the bleed points? And also maybe the thermostat has got stuck or blocked with sediments from the cooling system due to the car beeing stood for a medium length of time. If anyone knows how to locate the termostat your advice would be very handy. Note K reg debut 950cc 89000 miles to begin with i had no problems with over heating it has just suddenly developed. also the heaters insider the car have stopped working in conjunction with the overheating problem! pork_pie Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 First of all eliminate the most serious cause. Check the head gaskets! Check the coolant reservoir and if there is a white film on the liquid surface then its an expensive job I'm afraid. Oil is contaminating the coolant. If its a leak - get it checked at a garage. Some people go mad and empty the contents of an egg into the radiator. apparently that plugs any leakage. Its up to you. Car or omlette for breakfast. Quote
icedthee100 Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 hi,the bleeding points are on a hose (go tho the passengers room ) near the distribution side and the ecu, on the thermostat housing (imbrako bolt) and on the radiator near the hose on top of radiator (unfit radiator with springsthe thermostat housing is on right hand side top hose on radiator and motor (in alu or composite ) Quote
