Guest Greg Y Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I have had my 6 speed auto C5 for nearly 3 years and am very happy with it - have had no fault in 56,000 kms. Just recently the rear end has started responding quite differently to bumpy roads and, in particular, narrow speed bumps. The back end seems to be significantly more reactive to these bumps, kicking up quite sharply, whereas it would previously seem to absorb the bump. I know it's a fluid suspension but I'm wondering if there is some sort other damping mechanism that might have failed allowing the axle to bounce around. There are no other symptoms of any sort - on a relatively smooth road the car is as smooth as ever and there are no error messages, malfunctions, leaks etc that I can see. Suspension goes up and down as normal. The only thing that has changed in recent times is that I have put new tyres all round and they definitely give a slightly rougher ride - but the effect I am describing is very pronounced. I know that if I go to my Citroen dealer they will just blame it on the tyres - which might be correct - instead of undergoing a full diagnostic check so I'm wondering if anyone here has any thoughts before I go see them. I have just a few months of warranty left and if there is any hint of a mechanical fault I want to make sure it is picked up before the warranty expires. Thanks, Greg Quote
Guest Greg Y Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Thanks, I appreciate you trying to help, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Quote
Guest Greg Y Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Maybe you are not familiar with the twin turbo diesel: http://www.citroen.com.au/default.asp?action=article&ID=447 A nice motor and almost no turbo lag Quote
Guest qman3428 Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 I am assuming you haven't put it in sport mode if not I would go for the tyres. Quote
coastline taxis Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Well it just shows your never to old to learn and i stand corrected for my doubt. getting back to your posting one of two things me thinks either the rear spheres have gon or posably a ride height adjuster fault Quote
Guest Greg Y Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Thanks to both of you for your thoughts. I think I'll start by moving the tyre pressure around a bit and see what happens. If I don't learn anything I guess I'll need to talk to the dealer.I'll post back here if I get any definitive answer. Quote
