Thought it was time to stop lurking and say Hi to everyone. Ordered my C4 last week, a Oriental Blue 1.6 VTR+ hatch, any idea on lead times, the dealer said 2-3 weeks, I don't understand how it can take soooo long

Hi VTRPlus

Welcome to the forum.

I took delivery of my C4 last week. Ordered it in beginning of June with a delivery date of the end of June / first week in July. The dealer said there might be a bit of wait because it was the VTR+ (110 bhp 1.6 HDi rather than than the 'normal' 1.6 HDi 92 bhp).

It was a company buy so they wanted the money before releasing the car etc which was done. Delivery date arrives and no car, the dealer had no idea where my car is! They didn't physically have it! Also I already had the V5 from the DVLA.

Anyway took delivery on the 19th, 2 / 3 weeks after they initailly said it was going to be ready and that was after threatening we would ask for our money back.

The sales guy was very apologetic and embarassed, apprantly wherever or whoever does there PDI checks wouldn't release the car as they did not have the locking wheel nut socket for the alloys and they were waiting on them from Citroen UK?

Obviously this is just my experience does not explain your lead time, we did however order a Picasso 1.6 HDi Desire, at the same time and that was delivered on time with no problems.

hi there........

When i ordered mine i was told 10 days it took 15 days in the end main reason due to the car coming over from france, and the dealer didn't really have a clue what would be on the next transporter, don't seem to keep many stock motors here..

Welcome to the forum VTRPlus. :)

Normal delivery times for new vehicles are 2 to 4 weeks, so does not seem unusual.

I know we always want everything next day delivery these days, but have you tried building a C4 yourself :D

Mine was ex-demo off the shelf, apart from having to wait a week for the climate control to be fixed before I took delivery, and I thought that was a long time to wait ! :)

Took me 12 weeks to get mine mate when i ordered it in september i got it 2nd week of november. Admittedly at the time there were only 8 wicked Red C4's in the country and mine was 1 of 2 coupes. why it took so long.

You will love the car though.

Took about a week for mine :D Think I ordered it Thursday(was still in France at this point), came off the transporter on Wednesday and was ready for collection on Friday (complete with spoiler fitted by the dealer). Though my Auntie ordered one and after waiting a couple of weeks for delivery it took a week to "prepare" it (not quite sure what they were doing).

Still I imagine it all depends on what model / colour / spec you go for. Obviously if it aint been built yet your gonna have to wait a bit.

Hi folks - I have just ordered a C4 too, having test driven a 1.6HDI 92 BHP for two days. Loved it, really loved it. Mates tried to talk me into a Focus or a Megane, but I was having none of it. Ordered a 1.6HDI VTR+. Apparently I have hit the August holiday break, so no car till October. Bit worried about the all sqeaky brakes you guys have had though! Anything I should do or ask the dealer it the meantime? Like enabling visual reverse parking facility? :D

I've just taken delivery today of my pre registered 1.6 HDi VTR+ 110bhp in Iron Grey. I ordered through DC Cook Direct , recommended to me by a friend who bought a Picasso off them.

The process took about 4 weeks from placing the order to delivery, although they said 6 to 8 weeks initially. They took my Megane in Part ex, gave me a reasonable trade in and it was all done over the phone. Strange way to do it really, they agree a price for the trade in based on your own description of your vehicle via a short questionnaire.

The purchase price was way better than I was able to get from any of the dealers I tried (£12096 including a years tax) and although I was originally told that I would have to go to Rotherham to collect it, for some reason they decided to deliver to my door at no extra cost.

The car itself has come from Citroen Manchester.

At the moment I am still a bit bewildered by all the gizmos and gadgets and their operating instructions in the handbook - its going to need some careful study!

My initial reaction after an afternoon running around in the car is that it drives really well, appears to be well screwed together with no rattles or squeakes and looks great in Iron Grey.

My only criticism so far is with the carpet in the footwell - It looks really cheap and nasty as though it will be threadbare in no time and it is crying out for a good set of mats. Anyone any suggestions about where to buy a set of mats and what type? Will any standard mats fit? In the handbook it mentions about only using Citroen approved mats to ensure they don't ride up under the accelerator pedal. Don't know if this is just a ploy to get you to splash out on the official C4 mats which apparently are priced at £40 a set or £50 for the "3D sculptured contour mats". :D

powza, my car came with them, the lease company supplies them with the car, there are two plastic catches that hold the mat in place on the drivers side. They are pretty good quality, I'm on and off site a lot and they have handled the abuse since this feb, I've had after market mats die in the same amount of time.

VTRPlus hello, hope you enjoy your C4, I wouldn't get rid of mine in a hurry, has been nice to drive, fairly economical and above all reliable.

Thanks for that. I guess I should bite the bullet and buy the proper ones, particularly if they are of good quality and will last.

I was interested in your comments in the other thread about your experience with foaming diesel. I have never had a diesel car before (and havent put any fuel in this one yet) and am anticipating using Tesco diesel as it is always the cheapest fuel around here, so I will keep my eyes open for the problems you mentioned.

By the way, what is 'Millers'?

Wont be dissapointed mate. Driven all of the cars you said there and im driving a C4 so must say something handles a little bit worse than the focus but not that much driver abilities pay more of a part. Braking wise the C4 will have the focus. Either way new focus is ugly and as topgear said ford should have built the C4.

And the meganes unless your getting a 225 are ugly, boring and there built ok but not that well and have there own issues too. I take back everything though if its a 225 cup / trophy as id have one in a heartbeat.

Brake issue was a known problem with a fix now takes a fair few thousand miles before its noticed though and hopefully the new calipers discs and pads will make a difference.

And the mats are a bit expensive but good quality. And most good mats arent cheap has to be said. I paid £37 for my mats i think a few months ago not sure if they have gone up but all the designs then were £37 according to the parts department might have brought more designs out i dont know.

On the subject of fuel honestly try some of the more expensive diesel after using tesco fuel i find i get worse MPG and my car doesnt seem anywhere near as smooth to drive. Not entirely sure why as there are only a couple refineries but there must be something added or not added to the tesco stuff which makes the difference and im not the only person to have noticed this on these boards. Plenty of people have tried the ultimate diesel from BP and said there cars feel more powerful and get better MPG. And if you do notice more oomph and more mpg the fuel generally doesnt cost much different when you take into account extra MPG. i have a petrol engine but mine went up when i used optimax according to the trip computer im averaging 3mpg more on this tank than i did on the tesco stuff.

I just bought and fitted the 3D moulded mats and they look pretty good. Still wincing a little over the price- £50, although the dealer had an offer of a 10% discount on all mats so I got them for £45. :o

FOA POWZA,

I just got a set of mats off ebay, great fit and the front drivers side has a padded part for your heels. I paid £22.21 for a set of 4, which I didn't think was too bad. the sellers name was "auto_cruise" if its any help to you or anyone else with a c4. Mines a vtr+ 110 hdi. Best car I've owned so far :D .

All the best powza.

Mine have the padded bit for the heel as well and have Citroen C4 wrote on them in red. Rest of the mat is the exact same colour as the carpet in the car already apart form the heel which is black match really well inside.
