Heya all,

Been reading these forums for a while now, and thought it might be an idea to put my problems down here.

I own an '06 berlingo 1.6 16v, and ever since day one, have been having problems with it.

1) fuel enconmy is absolutly terrible. I'm lucky if I get 27mpg out of it. And that is at an average of 70mph...

2) I have to go up any hill I come to in 1st gear. Why? Because only 1/3 of the accelerator pedal does anything to the engine, the other 2/3rds is dead.

Now, I hope this isn't normal :P , at least other cars I've owned haven't done this. I've taken it back to Citroen 4 times now in the last 2 months, who have said each time 'There's nothing wrong with your car because there is no fault codes on the ECU'. :D

So guys, I was wondering, has anyone here got any ideas as to being able to rectify the problems?

Cheers in advance all

HIYA

MY 53 REG 1.6 DESIRE DID ABOUT 32-35MPG, MAYBE IT WILL TAKE AWHILE TO RUN IN, MINE DID, BETTER FUEL ECONOMY CAME AFTER 4000 MILES ABOUT 5MONTHS.

AS TO THE GOING UP HILLS, MINE WAS FINE, AND MY 2.0HDI I HAVE NOW SHOOTS UP UM NO PROBLEMS.

Our 1.6 petrol is 2 years old now and we've just returned from France where I've been keeping a track on fuel consumption.

At French motorway speeds to and from our holiday, fully laden I managed about 33mpg.

While ambling around rural france it went up to the low 40s.

Fuel economy is probably not the petrol Blingos strongest point - but I suppose I could have bought a deisel if I was that bothered - it makes up for it in other areas.

Hi,

Just noticed this old thread!...I'm getting poor mpg figures recently, whereas before I was getting about 34mpg, this has dropped to high twenties!

With regard to loss of power when you depress the accelerator, I had a similar problem, where the car used to run out of steam on the motorway. The Dealer couldn't find a problem, but I fixed it by checking all the under bonnet electrical connectors...one had come loose on the top of the engine.Once snapped back together, the engine was returned to full power!
