Note that the engine oil capacities in the Haynes manual for the C3 (2002 to 2005 edition) petrol engines are not correct. It gives a value of 3.5 litres but from the Citroen manual should be

1.1 HFX and 1.4 KFV engines 3.0 litres inc filter change.

1.4 KFU engine 3.75 litres inc filter change.

1.6 NFU 3.25 litres inc filter change.

Found this out whilst doing an oil change on our 1.4 KFV, put in 3 litres and planned on adding the next half litre to bring up to max after running the engine, only to find at 3 litres it was already just above the max level (and checks on the sump did not show it had been pushed in).

Hello

yes you are right in these motors KFU and other gasoline motors ( for C2 and C3) , you have to put 3,5 liter of oil

and the hDI motors 1,4 and 1,6 it is a bite less of 4 liter of oil

Each time you did you service maintenance you must change the oil filter, it is preaty cheaper and it could save your engine.

In my old Citroen dealer, Citroen only quoted the value of oil required as a minimum of what it is safe to run their vehicle on, basically the min mark of the dipstick. At a service, Citroen was underselling their oil by 1L every time and, despite every attempt to tell them, they didn't clock on. So if 500 services were done, they noticed 500L of oil was missing!

A simple problem to fix, but not done yet.

If the chart said C3 DV6 1.6 HDi, for example, the oil quantity was 3.75 but we would find ourselves putting in a good 4.5 +.
