Hello all

I have recently aquired a Citroën C5 2001 110hp :D the only problem is the central locking. The remote central locking doesn't work despite a shiny new battery. <_< The doors also have a habbit of not locking. I'm not sure if it's a battery thing sometimes after a drive or dissconnecting and reconnecting the battery it will lock.

I have found a wiring diagram for the car;

http://www.scribd.com/doc/104632266/Citroen-c5-Haynes-Manual

Unfortunantely it doesn't look as easy as hardwiring in 12v to the locking wires. Nor would I know where to wire in 12v.  I'm half tempted to do a Mr bean and put padlocks on all the doors and boot.

Thanks everyone!

Welcome to the forum.

A few questions that may help somebody provide an answer:

Do the doors lock using the key or using the dash button, do they lock using the remote at a different location, do the doors try to lock and then unlock as if not all the doors are closed, is there a source of radio interference nearby such as an amateur radio aerial, phone mast, mobile phone always switched on, does the spare key work, is the car battery fully charged at 12.5 to 12.7 volts, are there any other problems with the car ?

Maybe the remotes need synchronising with the car (in the car handbook after replacing a battery and as below), possibly there is a problem with the comms 2000 unit (the big part below the steering wheel containing the light and wiper stalks) which has the remote receiver.

4. Synchronisation of HF PLIP remote controls
N.B. : When replacing the batteries of an HF PLIP remote control, it is necessary to resynchronise the remote control.
Perform the following operations :
  • Put the HF key to be synchronised in position "ignition +"
  • Within the next 10 seconds, press one of the HF key buttons
  • Release the HF key button
The ignition key HF PLIP is synchronised.
N.B. : Perform these operations for the other keys equipped with HF remote control.
Carry out a locking / unlocking test of the vehicle’s doors and tailgate.
N.B. : If the locking / unlocking test of the doors and tailgate is not correct, restart the synchronisations of all the ignition keys equipped with HF PLIPS.

:o  Key works! :D  Thanks so much. The only problem now is that the key buttons don't spring back....I have to dimantle the key to make it work. :(

Also battery voltage was 12.3v so not great. will give it some long runs soon though :)

Still haven't fixed the problem as such but the locking does work with the remote central locking. I did have to put some bits of plastic under the key buttons to aid bouncing them back otherwise the battery goes flat. :/

Have you tried using the spare remote ? It may be you need to buy a new one. A look on ebay only shows used ones which may be no better than the one you already have so a dealer may be your only option.
