lp2103 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Last renewed my insurance in December last year, made annual payment.Filled a form in today making the company aware that i needed the car on the policy changing. Before buying my car i got quotes which are half the price compare to old car. Yet my company have emailed me stating that the Citroen will cost me £32 more (from now until december) and the payment will be taken shortly. I dont understand why i have to pay extra to change to the car - this wasnt admin fees. When my insurance quotes were lower than i paid Im on 3 years no claims. 4 in Decemeber (fingers crossed) Ive heard if i cancel my insurance i wil receive a part refund, but also lose the no claims from setting this insurance up - which to me isnt worth it.. Is this correct? Quote
paul.h Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Unfortunately you have little choice to pay but in December when you look around for other quotes you may find it better to change companies. Some of the ones though on the price comparison sites I have never heard of and a lot of them have fees when ever you contact them for a change (so check this before renewing your insurance). When our 2003 C3 was changed for a 2010 one there was also a job change and an address change but had to pay about £75 for the 3 months left on the policy with Admiral, most due to the car, possibly since it has a higher value than the old one and there will be an admin fee (or rip off fee) hidden in this. lp2103 Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 Its Admiral im with too, will be contacting them again in a few week once my private plate has transfered onto car so better prepare myself for another charge i guess.. Quote
paul.h Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Admiral also make out of the phone calls, 8p per min plus 15p connection charge with a BT landline for existing customers or 5p per minute for new ones (from memory), so a mobile cost will be a lot higher. I have looked for alternative free numbers on the say no to 0870 website but the ones there did not work. Quote
lp2103 Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 well got all docs thru from DVLA today for transfer of private plate...filled in the online form with admiral and got an email back stating changed of number plate is £17.50..fair enough, id understand it if they had to send me amended documents through post but everythings done online for mine.. so nearly £40 to change cars, £17.50 for number plate, its really making me think i will not stay with admiral once renewal is due in Feb...
