Alix776 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 For no reason on Sunday while driving around town the ride suddenly got bumpy as the back end lifted its self up. Stopped the car switched off and back on car leveled its self a couple minutes later did the same thing each time switch off sorts the issue out. Has any body any ideas as I'm thinking it may be the spheres need cleaning or am I barking up the wrong tree Quote
Parkesie Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Have a nosey at the ride hight sensor. The linkage on mine snapped and dropped the rear end but could easily have sent it to full height. Quote
paul.h Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 These ride height sensors are also known to stick - taking the suspension up and down a few times can help as well as spraying with something such as wd40. The sensors are fastened to the front and rear anti roll bars in about the middle. If you go under the car use axle stands since playing with the sensors can cause the suspension to drop - this should be normal practice on the C5 with hydractive suspension since if the sensors are caught the same can happen and in the low position the car is only a few inches above the ground. Alix776 Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 Yes it was the ride high mechanism had stuck a good dose of wd40 and its fine again though I did get a couple of people in the back to make sure it dropped Quote
paul.h Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Free fixes are always good, especially when first thoughts are of an expensive bill. I have linked to this post in the Common Problems post since this problem has come up a few times. Quote
