citrophile Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Is it possible to change the front parking sensors on a 2005 MkII C5 without removing the front bumper? My lexia says I have one which isn't working. At the moment I do not have the engine undertray fitted if that makes a difference.Rob Quote
paul.h Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 The front fog lights can be removed without removing the bumper so I would think it would not need removing to do a sensor next to a fog light, despite what it says in Haynes. Quote
Johndouglas Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 If you prise out the panel which acts as the fog light surround, the end sensor is fitted into the surround. And maybe? - if the fog light was removed, there would be room to reach down to work on the inside two. Quote
citrophile Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 Thanks Paul/John, am going to have a go on the weekend if weather is ok Quote
citrophile Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 In the end this was so dead easy. You were right about the spotlight surrounds, a careful hefty tug releases the inner end clips and the outer ends just slide out of the slots in the bumper. Sensor can then be easily changed.Inner parking sensors are similarly fitted, a tug on the end and the plastic "box" detaches easily from the bumper section and the sensors can be changed.Took me all of 10 minutes.Result. paul.h Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 So much for Haynes. I wonder if a dealer/garage would only charge for 10 minutes or for a bumper removal ? How did you find which sensor was at fault or did you just swap one until they worked ? Quote
citrophile Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 I have the lexia software on a laptop so it told me the two outer sensors were faulty. Quote
