Hello all.. FIrst post here as i am looking to get a citreon c4 Picasso.

Basically i am looking at Citroen c4 grand piccasso and have found a few vtr hdi cars, (2009)

My question is.. are all VTR HDI cars turbo diesel? (yes i am just looking for a diesel)

Hope people can understand my question and can help.

Yes - all HDIs are turbo diesels of either 2.2ltrs;  2ltrs or 1.6ltrs.     Not since the XUD series, the predecessor of the HDI has there been an option to have either a turbo assisted engine or an atmospheric engine.   Some of the early HDI had the option for not having an intercooler.   The 110 HDI had one whilst the 90bhp didn't.

A 5 year old car, probably you are looking at 40 to 50k miles. You need to make sure the car has a good oil change service history. The 1.6 hdi turbo is prone to early failure and frequent oil/filter changes will help to prolong its life. Also round about 80k miles the exhaust dpf particulate filter may be due for replacement/cleaning and the eolys fluid topping up - these things cost £100s so bear in mind when looking at running costs and the mileage of the car you are looking. If the owner says these have been removed, then for the MOT they need putting back, since Feb this year a check is made for their presence.

On the home page is a link to the Picasso owners club and it will be worth looking at/joining this forum for advice specific to the Picasso.

The cars we have been looking at are 2009's and 2010's grand c4, hdi vtr plus. We thought only some of them had turbos but obviously have now found out that all of them do. We are only going for a grand c4 if it has full service history. The cars we are also looking at have around 30 - 50k miles on them. The grand c4 we are currently very interested in

has one down point. There used to be a larger person who drives the car, So when they got out of the car they held the top of there door. WHich now, when w eopen the door it drops down a little bit. If they can fix it befor then we will buy it.

Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated

The gaiter seems to be about £20 to £40 depending on the material and whether the knob insert is chrome or black. For a definite price you would need to use the car vin. To fit the gaiter it may just pull over the gear knob or the knob may need to be removed first and then pushed back on. It should not take long to do, 10s of minutes.
