paul.h Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 With the standard jack that has the handle fastened to it, I have found it is easy for the handle to swing against the car sills and cause paint damage. Getting fed up with this, I have used some 13mm heat shrink sleeving from Maplins which was pushed over the handle and heated over the cooker hob so the bare metal is covered. I prefer the jack type that comes with the mark 1 and 2 C5 where the handle is separate to the jack. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/13mm-heat-shrinkable-sleeving-1m-yr18u A look at the jack part nos. shows that all the different models mostly use different jacks. The C5 mark 1 and 2 and 3 all have different ones and on the mark 3 this depends on rpo and whether steel or hydractive suspension. The C3 and C4 have different part nos. even though they look similar but later mark 3 C5s on steel springs have the same jack as the new C3. The jacks all cost about £25 plus for the hydractive C5s about £10 for the brace and extension based on prices from the citroencarparts site. You would think Citroen could save a bit by all using the same jack. The box that the jack goes in to can differ on models but some are shared and the C5 expanded plastic box costs a lot less than the hard plastic ones so overall the jack kit for the cars are all similar.
