Fishermans fame Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Hi all I'm hoping someone can help, I have a C4 Picasso 1.8 petrol last month I had several warning lights appear , Eps system faulty, Handbrake system faulty and depollution system fault I turned the car off and and restarted and all the faults apart from the depollution system faulty vanished, I had it look at by our local garage who said it was cylinder 3 misfire and told the coil needed replacing so I had it done. All seemed fine till yesterday when it all happened again the car showed the faults as above and was running really lumpy again turned car off and restarted and only the depollution fault stayed but ran fine with a little lump on idle, today started the car and fault has gone but car still slightly lumpy on idle, I've had a search online and I'm finding nothing about the petrol engines . Please help !! Quote
paul.h Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Welcome to the forum. Were the spark plugs also changed with the new ignition coil ? Does the engine management light come on as well as the messages ? If this comes on the car may be put in limp mode giving the poor running. Also there will be fault codes generated which should give a good indication of the fault and these will remain stored until deleted by a code reader. It seems an odd combination of faults but possible connections could be the speed which may be generated by an abs sensor or maybe a brake switch fault. As a first step I would get the fault codes read and if this does not point to something obvious then you may need a Citroen dealer to do a diagnostic with the correct equipment (Lexia). If you do not have a code reader one with live data can be bought for around £40 such as this from Gendan https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html To read more than engine sensor faults (which are the ones that put on the engine management light and depollution messages) would need a Lexia and Chinese copies to install on a pc are available from such as ebay and easydiagnostics for around £70-120.
