Hi, my first problem with my new C3 1.4 diesel after only 2300 miles.

SERVICE light has come on permanently. Not flashing or blinking, on all the time! Serious problem?

The owner's manual suggested it could be low windscreen wash level. Topped it up with approx 3 litres screenwash. Damn SERVICE message still on.

I can't believe it needs a service after only 2300 miles! Any ideas welcome

Welcome to the forum.

What year is the car ? The service message coming up could be a few things such as low battery voltage, brake pads worn if they have wear sensors, low or high engine oil level, low coolant level. Possibly if it was recently serviced the service indicator was not reset but this normally appears on the service miles on the speedo and with a spanner symbol (to reset the service interval will be in the handbook but is usually to hold down the speedo trip button, switch the ignition so the dash lights up, wait for the indicator to count down to =0 and then let go of the button).

Thanks Paul, resetting the service indicator did the trick.

Turns to have been as simple as the windscreen wash bottle needed topping up. But I didn't know I had to reset the service indicator. I was beginning to think it was something more serious.

Thanks again

What mileage has the car done? Normally the service indicator is zeroed after a full or interim service and part of the service is topping up the washer bottle. But there are more important jobs which shouldn't be neglected. To zero the indicator between services could become confusing.
