paul.h Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Welcome to the forum. There could be a lot of things that put the engine management light on and then limp mode but it will be something that can affect the exhaust emissions. You could try replacing lots of sensors without finding the faulty one before wasting a lot of money. The best thing to do is use a code reader to find the fault code which will indicate what is wrong. These cost less than paying for a diagnostic check and ones with some live data are more useful such as this one for £39 from Gendan https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html Possibilities can include wiring/connector faults, the MAP sensor, the exhaust inlet lambda sensor, the spark plugs, the ignition coil, a camshaft sensor, the crankshaft sensor but these tend to stop the engine and may not give a fault code, blocked fuel filter, blocked air filter, faulty fuel injector, a problem with the throttle body. C2ANGELEYES Posted December 25, 2015 Author Posted December 25, 2015 Hi Paul thanks for the reply , My engine management light does not come on , I did replace the Map Sensor and it's not that car still goes into limp mode, and the car went for a service about a month ago so I assume stuff like the spark plugs should have been changed when service was done but won't harm just to have a look and also I feel a service includes just having a look to make sure everything else is in working order such ignition cool and all sensors that functions to make the car run in perfect working order , so funny why this is happening now after a service it might possibly be a fault by some of the other things you've mentioned, also did open throttle body to have a look inside nothing seems damaged or broken inside but also I suppose a person can't tell just by looking at it I personally think it might be the lambda sensor. But like you e mentioned there's a few things that might be the cause . I have also noticed that the cars temperature goes like half way and car gets quite hot they have replaced the thermostat with a brand new one do you think it might also be a cause why car goes into limp mode cos car senses that it's getting too hot so to keep the car from any harm it then switches to limp I am not sure about this I just thought of mentioning it might also clear things up a bit maybe makes a bit more sense to you , may the new thermostat be busted for some reason causing car to go into lim mode also I have no idea if this has anything to do with the limp mode problem I am just making you aware , I'm a lady it's my first car so I do not know anything about this , thanks for your help Paul I appreciate it taking ur time to try and help me out. C2ANGELEYES Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 Now I'm having problem with the car it does not wanto start at all / confused .... Quote
paul.h Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 The engine management light should light up when the ignition is switched on, along with other lights on the dash. It should then go out a few seconds after the engine has been started unless there is a fault. If the light does not come on, then possibly the bulb has failed. You should still use a code reader to see what the fault is. With the latest problem, not starting, does the engine turn over on the starter motor ? Quote
