Hi guys,

I've been replacing the front springs on my sisters C3 and accidentally pulled the driveshaft out of the gearbox and lost some oil. Now that I've done the springs etc I want to replace the oil that I dropped but I can't see any obvious filler plug. Can any of you guy's possible assist with some advice or a diagram please? I need to get the car back to her tomorrow so she can use it for her work

Thanks in advance,

Welcome to the forum.

If it has the same MA5 gearbox as the C3 petrol engine, then the Haynes manual shows a filling/level plug at the left hand end of the gear box and possibly needing a square key to undo it - you may find a 3/8" square drive in a socket set might fit. To have enough access the left hand wheel arch liner may need removing.  The Haynes pictures show the plug is at the lower edge of the gear box casing at the wheel end of the gear box in about the 8 o'clock position outside of the end cover.

It gives the oil capacity as 2 litres of Total transmission BV 75w-80 or Esso BV 75w-80w.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for getting back to me. I couldn't tell you what the box type is as its pretty tight in there to see any markings on it. I will pop off the arch liner tomorrow and get a better look. The reg of the car is SG55 FZO if that helps. I'm a MINI man so my knowledge on Citroen's isn't great and I only took on this job as its my sister and she's desperate plus with her being a nurse she needs her car and me being foolish I've created extra work for myself :(

I've searched the internet but all I can find is automatic and Hdi boxes :(

Cheers,

I suspect much of the Haynes manual for the C3 will cover the Pluriel but if you need much more the Citroen service box procedures on 3 dvds are the best option. They also include the parts diagrams and wiring diagrams and can be obtained through ebay. In here though it  says the level/filling plug was discontinued from car RPO 9919 - this number can be found on the tyre pressure sticker on one of the door pillars, as well as in the car Warranty and Maintenance book on the inside front cover. If you do not have a level plug then the gear box will need to be drained and the correct amount of oil put back in through either removing the reverse switch or breather on the top of the gear box.

The plug could be Citroen part no. 222111 and is the same as the drain plug which is lower down on the end of the gear box.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sump-Plug-Kit-Citroen-OE-222111-/381519883246?hash=item58d45b6bee

Cheers Paul, I think this will probably be the option to be honest as there is absolutely no evidence of any filler holes. From memory when I had my D Turbo many years ago the filler plug was bigger than the rest of the bolts on the box and was easily spotted.

@paul.h, massive thanks mate! I went in via the vent on the top of the box and get the oil replenished that was lost.

Best regards,
