Koa Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Hi again, Can someone tell me what PCD and offset the wheels are for the VTS ? Also do 18's fit without any mods if the car's lowered 30mm ?I would have thought they would because the tyres are lower to compensate but it don't hurt to ask. Quote
wozza Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 18's will go on without any problem with the car lowered or at least they should do. Welshguy has his 18's on with a 225 / 40 profile so still fairly big and he still has gaps. 19's go on as well if you wanna go big. PCD is 108 x 4 and offset is 25 i think but offset can be changed slightly when changing up wheels anyway theres a bit of room to pull them further out the arch as well. 19's on the one below as well as a custom widearch bodykit. http://clcalvet.club.fr/sbarro/C4RPUR/av.jpg Quote
Koa Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 Nice one Wozza. 18's will do fine. I have 19's ATM and the ride is a little too harsh with such low profile tyres on, especially with the car in sports mode, I actually considered going down to 18's. Quote
wozza Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Nah VXR needs the 19's. I really want the 18's off the C6 on my car not sure if they will go on though. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 try here toohttp://www.tsw-wheels.co.uk/?section=18&model=18 Quote
Welshguy Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Wozza is indeed correct - 18's with 225/40 tyres fit easily, even with my car being dropped 30mm. Ride quality isn't bad, although speed bumps feel bad! I would get 19's if you can, but there is a lot more cost involved in 19's. Quote

My VXR uses conti sport 19's and it costs me around £200 a corner, with the car tearing through tyres like there's no tomorrow I just can't keep up with it. Quote
wozza Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 the 17" michelins on the VTS as standard are £140+ a corner so there not cheap either. Quote
Stuey Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 does the VXR eat tyres that badly then?? I am very tempted by on in the next year but obviously I will have to weigh up the cost for running. The MPG will be nowhere the C4 but thats to be expected....Focus ST or Astra VXR??? I just dont know. But then reading in Auto Express that the new Focus RS is not too far away and they reckon that 300bhp is a good possibilty... Quote

I just dont know. But then reading in Auto Express that the new Focus RS is not too far away and they reckon that 300bhp is a good possibilty... Well I am biased so I'd say the Astra VXR, but the ST was the other choice when I bought it, along with the Golf GTi.Ignore old reviews of the vxr because it had the preproduction chasis so got slated by idiots who couldn't see past the fact it was just an example. New reviews have forced those same people to have a change of heart and it really is a fun car to drive especially after a remap and full performance exhaust. But doing that adds nearly 2k onto the price.Tyre wear depends on driving, it's not overly bad but having 264bhp going through the front wheels means if you're not conservative then they will wear fast. Rear tyres are like new still.I am selling my vxr for a stupid price right now, I don't actually want to sell it but I was offered money for a new car from work and I could not refuse the offer as they are buying it outright for me and the vxr will be surplus to requirements. The reason the price is so low is because I don't want to sell and a high price would mean a possible longer wait and I don't want to change my mind, I just want to get it over and done with. Quote
wozza Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Thought yours was nearer the 300bhp mark last time i read anything about it sure you mentioned something like that on Fiatforum...im most likely wrong lol. Or was it you wanted to get it near that point? meh either way still be bloody quick. So out of curiosity what you replacing the VXR with? And i would have to agree id take the VXR over the focus / golf. Focus is just ugly and the Golf is a little dull. VXR just appeals to me a bit more. Quote
Stuey Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 im with Wozza on atleast one of his points...the Golf is ugly...I like the ST so there! obviously 250-300bhp is going to shred tyres if you drive it hard, but I dont drive like that on the road. it is between the ST or the VXR...where is yours for sale KOA?? Koa Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 Here http://www.astra-sri.co.uk/forums/showthre...ead.php?t=15269 and in Exchange and Mart website and mag ;) Wozza, the figure is actually closer to 290 bhp. Dynos do not show the VXR's true bhp figures as the car has a limiter that cut's in and prevents it from reaching full power on a RR. I am not gonna state a higher figure than what is shown on the RR graph though, that would be silly of me. I am buying the C4 VTs diesel to replace the vxr mate. Better fuel consumption is the main reason as the company want me to get a car I can use to travel the country taking photos for textures so it needs to be economical. Quote
wozza Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Ah fair enough then. Remember you work in a games development thing now. Mates been trying to get into that. But finding it very difficult to get a job. They want someone with experience and he cant get experience without working somewhere first. So he was just bitching about his degree being useless the other week. And anything above 250bhp in a FWD car is gonna be rather fun to drive. And also a bit of a handful. But would be fun. Can tell you 1 thing though angel tuned 2.0 hdi is fairly quick. I had a hard job keeping up with 1. Quote
Koa Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 Yeah I intend to get it Angel tuned, I'm not sure about adding the CDA option though, will it benefit a diesel much ? Quote
Koa Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 What's your mate doing in the industry Wozza ? Coding, level building and design ? Problem is these days too many people have gone for the games design degree and similar. When I got into it I just done loads of free mods for games. Worked with teams of guys just building our own little games and releasing them FOC just to get noticed. Once again, so many people are doing this now so it's still a hard route to take but that's what I'd do. At least get a couple of demos out there and maybe send a sample off to the developers as long as it's top quality they will recognise that. Quote
wozza Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 No idea i dont think induction kits really make much difference on small engined cars typically. More there for show and noise. Only car i have seen with a 2.0 that developt any noticeable power with an induction kit was a Civic type R but the kit was £600 on its own. most of the time though they dont really do anything. No idea on diesels though but i would doubt it would make much difference anyway but probably best to ask nige or someone at angel they usually give you the truth on it. And my mate does a bit of everything. OpenGL coding, level design currently trying to learn 3d modeling same as me. As im currently teaching myself Maya. But it is a very difficult thing to get in to. Had another friend she did a CS degree but found it difficult getting a decent job as well. Quote
Stuey Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 damn it KOA!! just looked at the pics at the motor is lovely!! I dont like red cars but that works...I have passed it onto a friend who is also looking for a VXR...he has much more cash than me so he may well be interested. Quote
wozza Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 ;) Psh dont like red cars, red rules! Im not at all biased im mearly stating fact. :) Quote
Stuey Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I have never really liked red cars that much...it only works on certain cars..Ferrari's, the VXR and to keep you off my back the C4 but only when it is really clean otherwise it is wicked brown... Quote

Stuey Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 silver does seem to be a default choice when buying cars... Quote

Thanks, I appreciate that ;) The faster I sell it the better. There's a couple of guys doing their best to come up with the funds and also the Vauxhall dealers offered me a good price so if I don't sell it by the time the exchange and mart adds finished then I'll sell to the dealers. Stuey Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I just had a look on autotrader and the cars on there are well over £15k with no mods...you should get that easily... Quote
Koa Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 I just had a look on autotrader and the cars on there are well over £15k with no mods...you should get that easily... Yeah I priced it well under what it's worth. The VXR's are quite exclusive with less than 2400 cars made each year and the milltek exhaust cost me £1,200 on it's own. Hopefully buyers will recognise that. Quote
