Jts1978 Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Hi all I have a 53 plate C8 2.2hdi. I have had diagnostics done and loads of faults have been identified but are unable to clear. Car will not start but will run on easy start. The faults range from hazard lights to air con, interior lights etc. Also immobiliser fault. Technician said that it seem to be the bsi. Would it be easier to change the bsi ecu fuse box keys etc or is there anything else that I should know. I have also tried the reset but windows will not go down. Also bought new battery for it incase voltage was not being achieved. Quote
Simple Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Before you start on a wild goose chase:1- Ensure you have a very Fully charged and capable battery installed2- Reset the BSI (the procedure is listed in few posts)3- Ensure the PCB of the fuse box under the bonnet (driver side near the wiper) is clean and dry (you may have to spray it with moister repellent, switch cleaner or WD40.. With respect to fault erasing, you could use a Bluetooth ELM 327 OBDII device with Torque/pro to erase all faults..Good luck.. Quote
coastline taxis Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Sort the imobiliser fault out 1st. half the faults ill be economy mode and will disapear once started. Quote
Jts1978 Posted May 22, 2016 Author Posted May 22, 2016 It's a brand new battery and I have tried to reset bsi but had no luck. The Bsi doesn't seem to be letting anything communicate and is locked? Making me think the bsi has failed. Quote
coastline taxis Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Pull the fuse marked sh on the bsi unit wait a couple of minutes then replace it. What is live data saying. Also u really need to concentrate on the imobilliser and also the hazzard lights as these are the 2 main reasons for your problems. The hazzards are live all the time and feeds the bsi unit when the ecu is asleep so no power there and your bsi just sits there doing nothing ( its the bsi unit that wakes the ecu up and tells it everything is ok ) . imobillser fault will also keep the bsi locked. so thats were you have to start Quote
coastline taxis Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Not common but do happen. And in almost all the ones weve come across its been human error that have caused the problems.. Has the fault just started Quote
Jts1978 Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 I bought as a immobiliser fault one but guy who had it didn't seem to have a clue just said he thought it was immobiliser fault. Diagnosis unable to clear faults going to have a go over the next couple of days. Quote
Jts1978 Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 I spoke to a specialist about getting the keys recoded and he told me that he felt it was the bsi that had failed and told me to start there. Quote
Coffeejohnny Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Sorry for my ignorance, where is the BSI unit in the C8 I am a complete novice and just learning as I go. Just want to find the Shunt fuse and see if that makes a difference. Quote
paul.h Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 The bsi is the cabin fusebox under the dash. If you have a handbook it will list the fuses. Quote
Coffeejohnny Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Thank you, yes I do have that book so will have a go at it. Reset it to see if any differences were noted but nope. Quote
