I have put your car details as your signature so no need to mention it in future topics. You can edit this if you go to your profile.

The drain plug might be 6 mm and if you have a 1/4 inch socket set you may find the square fittings on it will work. If not then you can measure the plug.

For the piloted gearbox the drain plug is below the drive shaft and the level plug is nearer the front of the car but at a similar level to the drive shaft. From RPO 9786 a level plug has not been installed. There should be 2 litres of oil, if you do not have a level plug this is put in by removing the breather cap on top of the gearbox. The plugs are tightened to 33 Nm.

You should check the oil type at a dealer but for the piloted gearbox it could be Total Transmission BV, SAE 75W80 Citroen part reference 9730 A2.

If you do not have a level plug then you completely drain the oil and add the 2 litres through the hole for the vent cap or the reverse light switch after removing one of them. RPO 9786 equates to a production date of 25/8/2003 so you should not have a level plug.

If you know how much oil you have lost, then you could just add that amount and not bother removing the drain plug. Otherwise, to remove it probably means using a longer wrench than already tried or with the one used to hold it in place as though undoing the plug and hitting it with a hammer in the direction to undo the plug or if you have an impact driver you could use that. When the plug is removed you may find it has a copper seal that needs replacing.

yes, probably finding a copper seal would sum up just how frustrating this car is,

tried the hammer technique as well,

gonna try jacking the car up even higher just to see if i can get more leverage on it, otherwise, like you say, just have to put in about a litre and leave it to a garage and they can have the aggro,  :D  :D

borrowed a set of drain plugs from the citron indy place, and used their 8mm one that fitted, but my 8mm didn't,    :D

all done now, just giving her a good polish up, replacing the tailgate, then should be up for sale
