Hi , the exhaust rear box on my c3 dropped to the ground , i was able to push the support rod back onto rubber support

i had a look at the rear box & where the main pipe from the front joins the rear box there is slight damage at the round point because it dropped can i repair this myself with exhaust paste , or can it be welded ,exhaust isn't blowing

Without seeing the damage it is difficult to advise fully but since exhausts are just steel it is always possible to weld them as long as the metal is not too thin. How bad is the damage, is there a hole or is it just bent or dented a bit or the weld broken ? All paste could do is fill a hole so does not add any strength to the exhaust. If you have to pay for the repair this should be compared to the cost of replacing the exhaust.

I would have a look to see why the exhaust dropped if it happened on its own. If a bracket is missing/rusted away, you can get aftermarket replacements through ebay, just search on C3 exhaust repair brackets. If at some point you need to replace the exhaust, when we did this on our previous 2003 C3 the dealer price was around £300 for a complete one (without the cat) but about a third of this from eurocarparts. I fit the eurocarparts Klarius one but always regretted it since it resonated, was noisier and spoilt the car and I should really have taken it back. I seem to remember similar comments on here from another C3 owner. Something from a fast fit place might be a better option since you have a guarantee including labour if not happy.
