Chazchuzzlewitt Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Hi, Today (sunday) the girlfriend's c3 1.4 petrol (07) was running fine up until when after a short trip on start up again it flagged up the dreaded 'anti pollution faulty' message and when into limp mode/misfire... engine sounded like an old VW Beetle and very juddery and down on power. This was soon after she'd given a fairly long blast of the washer jets and I've read these can leak down onto the left-most injector? Not sure if related but she took a long (300 mile) trip with the car heavily-laden on Saturday and lots of stop-start London traffic, but she had no 'engine overheat' message (who's idea was it to not put a temp gauge on these?!) but I also noticed the coolant level had dropped to the bottom of the expansion tank. No bubbles in the coolant/oil or petrol smell, and no mayo on the oil cap. Got dark so couldn't troubleshoot any more. I did the timing belt/water pump back in August and it had been running perfectly with no issues/water loss etc until now. Anyone have similar issues/ideas? Cheers... Quote
Chazchuzzlewitt Posted November 6, 2017 Author Posted November 6, 2017 (edited) Just an update, drained the oil today and it has turned to chocolate milk... that'll explain where the coolant went! Edited November 6, 2017 by Chazchuzzlewitt Quote
paul.h Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Sounds as if the head gasket or a cylinder liner seal has failed. I do not think this engine has an oil cooler that could have failed. Quote
