Rich_Eason Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Came across this for the second time in as many weeks, my parking sensors seems to get confused and emit the continous tone as if I was very close to something, even though there was a completly empty car park behind me! I got out and wiped them over with a snot rag and that helped and stopped it, however there was minimal if any dirt on the sensors. Due the "persistant" ( :P ) rain I noticed that there was a couple of large drips on the sensors, would these have caused the sensors to get confused? Or is this the sign of something more...? Quote
C4VTS Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I had the same thing happen yesterday.Put the car in reverse and it immediately started bleeping as if something was behind me.Put gear back into neutral and selected reverse again, and it was all working ok again. It's probably a bug in the software creeping in. I hope someone releases a tool so that we can do our own software fixes and mods, something likethe Audi/VW owners have VAG-COM would be nice. :P Quote
iannez Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 for all citroens now you would need a can lead and a comunication card to read ecu's because of multiplexing and would cost more than the laptop you would need to run the software. the com card for a lexia (citroen diag tool) is around £500. snap on and mac diag tools cost between £1500 - £2500 and only read live data from inj and airbag ecu's and erase faults. we bought 2x lexia 3s about 3 year ago with break out boxes and stands for £7000 each. so if you want diy updates or diag it would be cheaper to buy a vw, seat, audi or skoda. if you do go for a leon cupra r. there the dogs golloks. (i have one) lol. Quote
wozza Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Do love the older cupra not quite as keen on the new shape ones. Although they look alright with the optional bodykit. But they just dont seem to have the same road presence as the older one. Quote
Stuey Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 and they are bloody expensive too. Both to run and buy. Seems to be the way with anything under the VAG flag, Skoda's arnt to bad though... Quote
wozza Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Can pick them up for around £7,000 now. Which is not that bad considering similar age clio 172/182's go for similar money. Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 My fathers 55 plate Saab 9-3 has a similar problem, everytime it rains the parking sensors fail and the on board computer goes mental. Quote
idlerobbo Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 my C4 has done this on a number of occations now. The first time I did happen to have a wet newspaper sheet stuck to the front of my car - how annoying that was on the motorway! took me long enough to figure out how to disable them! Just presumed they were broken haha. But the reverse ones have done exactly the same with nothing at all on them, no dirt etc. Just rain... Quote
Rich_Eason Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 To be honest it was absolutly pis*ing down when it happened as it has done over the last umpteen weeks! A quick clean seemed to have done the trick so perhaps that is what the problem is. I thought the front sensors only worked upto something daft like 3mph...wouldnt fancy trying to park a car at 70mph! Quote
idlerobbo Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 maybe I do have a fault then!! Mine did it again last night -hadnt even been raining - Maybe wozza I should just buy the head unit upgrade and be done with the parking sensors!! Quote
