Hi guys, just got my new C1. I'm 46 and male, and I'm just wondering, is this unusual? Is the C1 a girlie car...or a 'shopping trolley' as one workmate called it?

Like I care...£40 road tax, group 1 insurance, 50+ to the gallon..so who's got more money for holidays?

As a work car I see nothing wrong with it but dont think I could go back to something that small as an everyday car not particularly comfortable on the motorway or flying up country lanes.

There alright cars would not say girly although my mates gf has one... make of that what you will lol. And anyway i used to have a clio and a cinquecento there "girly" cars apparently.

As a cheap runabout there pretty good though. I drove the 1.0 was alright I just could not get comfy but im a big guy. Was fine though while I had it. Just could not cope with a 1.0 everyday lol. I felt like I had to gun it everywhere to make progress. But not a bad sounding engine for what it is and felt pretty nippy.

We purchased a C1 just over a year ago. The plan was my wife was going to drive it to work everyday which is five minutes across town. However, I decided to take it to work, about 40 miles a day, for a few weeks and since then she hasn't had the keys back.

I'll be honest, it has zero street cred and the stereo is tinny, but she pulls quite nicely and the amount of money you save is the ultimate grin factor. I do about 800 miles a month which is combined motorway and town driving and I fill up every two weeks which costs me about £26 a time. I'm 6'3 and have no problems fitting in it and have done long journeys without getting back ache etc.

Overall a great little car and definately have no plans to change it for anything else.

Are you 6"3 and weight a lot though? The one I had the seats were about half the width of the C4 seats which hug me being the sports seats. So it just made me feel like i was falling out half the time going round bends. Not nice. Also could not get the steering wheel in the right place (I have huge legs 1 of my legs is actually the same width as my mates waist)

Good for smaller people not for fattys like me lol.

I suppose its what you get used to I loved my Clio but after the C4 i couldnt stand the C1 which is similar to the Clio. Just not as good in the twisties.

I do agree, there is no side support in the seats they are quite comfortable though compared to a VW Bora I had a few years ago. My wife isn't a fan of driving in it for a long journey but it saves so much money and we don't travel that much anyway. It depends what your priorities are I suppose.

A nice little car though generally.

Thanks for the replies.

I have to agree about the lack of support in the seats when cornering. I am also having difficulty getting the seat 'right' at the minute...about an inch lower and it would be perfect, but alas there is no height adjustment.

Well i'm about 5'10 and drive my aprox 55 miles aday to work, mostly all back country lanes. It goes bloody well for what it is,true the seats are abit crap but at least they are comfy.

It costs pence to run and has been 100% reliable.i wound not swap it for anything.

I think its actually quite good in the twistys

Hi, I am a 47 year old bloke. First impression of the C1 is probably girly, but then when you think about it, all small modern cars are girly. It is no more girly than a Mini, Matiz, Panda, Picanto, Yaris etc. As you say, who cares - it has cheap road tax, excellent fuel economy, effortless acceleration and fun to drive. I Started out looking at the Fiat Panda ( prefered the look of it and the interor space) but was won over by the economy of the C1. I test drove the C1 and liked it to drive much more than the Panda. I now think the C1 looks cute but was not sure to start with.

Hi Folks

I am 43 (just :P ) an have had Bert (my C1) for 15 months and its a great car.

The money I have saved over this period has paid for a few trips abroad and a new bathroom compared to the Gas guzzling expensive to run cars I used to have.

Just decided to pimp my ride a for fun and have just put some 16 inch OZ alloys on and am planning to put the front spoiler with fog lights and reat tailgate spoiler on as well.

All show and no go he he

Hello,

just joined and will add my 2p worth.

Bought a new C1, 550 miles so far without incident. Wifey drives it 2 miles to work and back.

Went on a long run a couple of weekends back, pouring rain but the little bug drove well.

No leaks noticed as yet, just the run off from the glass boot door when its open. Annoying if there is something in the boot that doesn't want to get wet. Mind you, not that much fits in the boot !

We found the seats uncomfortable on a run, has anyone found seat covers that improve matters ?

All in all she loves the thing, I love the running costs !

We traded in a Disco Tdi for this so reckon we'll save £500 pa + fuel savings.

She has also had an Alfa Spider (hello SpiderS3) and prefers the C1 for the work run.

Cheers

Nig

I'm a 35-yr-old manly stud-muffin and I've just bought one in Damas Blue.

It was a new small car (for reliability) or a 3 or 4-yr-old Volvo or Saab (for comfort, gadgets, grown-upness). My work involves a lot of short stop-start journeys during the week so a friend (who has a C4) talked me into a smaller, more economical thing. A C1 or C2 were the only options give Citroen's deals at the moment and the C1 won out on economy, road tax and much shorter waiting time.

I'll be opening a savings account for the money saved by the C1 on MOTs, insurance, repairs, petrol & road tax compared to my 12-yr-old Punto. With it I'll either have a wedge of cash in 3 or 4 years or dip into it along the way for the servicing.

It should be with me early next week and I'm looking forward to it.

I'm still waiting. After a promise of a 4-day wait it's turning out to be several weeks.

Bank Top Citroen, Blackburn = Worst. Car. Dealership. Ever.

Lies and attempted mis-selling. The only times I hear from the salesman are the countless times he asks if I want Supagard or Gap Cover. He didn't listen to what I want. I went in with my girlfriend who has had 7 cars off them in 11 years. She jokingly threatened he'd better treat me well. He couldn't have given a damn, just carried on talking about what a great salesman he is, how he sells more cars than anyone else there and strutting around like an extra from Saturday Night Fever. They've lost her as a customer for her new Picasso and all her servicing.

My biggest gripe? Within seconds of meeting him I stressed my MOT was up at the end of the month. I reiterated it many times; he has it on paper. When I came to part-ex it another salesman (who, in all fairness, has been massively helpful comparatively) said my current car has to have a MOT. At no time was this mentioned to me.

Just like not having blue in stock ("we have all colours", "I'll go and check", "Oops, I forgot again... sign here first". Just like the car's been delayed with the floods. Them knowing this and telling me to arrange my one-week's free Citroen insurance - that's now wasted and lost.

I'm now looking at losing the £500 part-ex allowance (and thus having to find it myself) or £400 repairs to my car. If it ever comes I don't trust them for it not to be one of the "loads" they spoke off as ruined & written-off with the floods. They've said they've tried to push through my car without a MOT (so was it all a ruse for me to spend more money on unnecessary repairs???!!!) and that it's 'probably' been accepted. I want to have that in writing but will they return my calls? Guess. I'm marching in on Friday...

Think the dealer at Bolton is supposed to be good. I use Citroen Bury now who I think do a better job than Citroen Manchester.

Not quite as close as Blackburn but not a massive trek away either. If they buggered me about like that I would change dealers.

Cheers.

I'm waiting to see what they come up with tomorrow; I'm expecting a "there's been another delay" at the very least.

I'll then examine my contractual & legal options. The Bolton one is just 15 minutes from work. Thanks again for that :)

Well, I have it. At last. And it's fecking fantastic.

So far. Bit early to give an in-depth road test but so far it's been brilliant.

I'm missing the Multispace courtesy car and it's comforts but absolutely no complaints yet.

One question though... should it have an Air Recirculator in it?

Posted

It's also got an amazingly noisy exhaust, almost like it's blowing.

Obviously, it shouldn't be at 6-days-old but I'm not entirely confident it's not been stuck in a southern field under 4-ft of water for a fortnight.

I'm going back in on Monday, demanding someone looks at it and wanting my copy of the PDI.

Exhaust is normal.

Theres threads about it on here. And KFK has mentioned it numerous times as well saying its normal.

I got to drive another C1 the other day and this one was better than the other one I got to drive for some reason. Still not a fan of the seats but this one just seemed a little keener to move.

Really? Okay, cheers. I'll call off my angry march down there and just have a quiet, polite word when it goes in next month for it's 1,000m service.

Thank you.

hello... from france!!!

thought i'd drop a line, as i've had my c1 for a week now, and i'm chuffed to bits with it!!! :D

i got the deeply unfashionable diesel version, but i live in the middle of the french alps, and do a lot of commuting into switzerland... yeah, i know, but it's the lifestyle!!!

anway, little bug managed 800km to the first tank of fuel (500 miles) over the mountain passes between morzine and gstaad - it's roughly 6000 feet uphill, and the same downhill between the two, cos i go over the tops of the hills, rather than the long way round at the bottoms of them... and it's rather wiggly roads too, so most of the time in 3rd and 4th gear...

i make that nearly 60 miles to the gallon in brit terms, not bad considering that i had my paraglider, my rafting kit (i'm a white water raft guide), and a microwave oven that i was moving between the two places in the back (and yes, that was simultaneously!!!!!!)

couldn't be happier, especially as my fully comp insurance has cost me half of the amount i used to pay 3rd party for my 14yr old clio!!! :D

go go bug i say!!!!! :(
