I have found that the transponder in the key may be the culprit.Next time it happens, try putting key in ignition, then pressing the alarm lock button. This resets the device and then my car starts! Still have to figure out which bit is faulty! I still have to isolate it in case it is one of the keys.Keep me posted! Quote
AlanFC Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Flitwick, unfortunately it seems your advice to akf not to be influenced by horror stories on this site was not good. The poor guy has reported that his dealer wants at least £1,400 for changing all the fuel injectors. hence my advice to owners of the 16v Hdi diesel to get a warranty or get rid. Thats three of us now on this site with major problems on this model, (mine has been at the dealers for 5 weeks!) what faults have you suffered? Quote
Guest myc3car Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 HI, MY CAR WONT START AND WONDER IF THIS COULD BE THE PROBLE. WHEN YOU SAY pressing the alarm lock button DO YOU ALSO HAVE TO PRESS THE UNLOCK BUTTON ?#KEITH I have a similar intermittent problem. tsemail Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I had a similar problem with our 1.6, the main dealer had it on and off for months and replaced various parts of the fuel delivery system all to no avail (fortunately the vehicle was under guarantee). The diagnostics kept stating that there wasn't a fault but the clouds of smoke when you started it seemed to indicate otherwise! Eventually they replaced the fuel line and this solved the problem, the older models have a problem if the line isn't completely air tight and this allows the diesel to siphon back to the tank. Mine also smoked heavily at 2500 revs for a good five minutes after it eventually started. Quote
