I had to get the confidential code re-issued, but then bought a garage key with no fob, that will lock /unlock/start the car. I sometimes use the garage key without remote locking. It is a cheaper option. I also give the garage the basic key when getting the car serviced. Quote

Randombloke Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 hi thanks for your help randombloke what do you mean by a garage key sorry if i sound a bit thick cheers john This is a key without the remote unlocking plip. It is much cheaper to buy than a remote locking key, and will work in times of emergency. It is usually the kind of key you would give to the garage to use whilst fixing the car. When I go abroad I take mine and keep it on me at all times in case I get locked out of the car. The alarm will still go off if you open the car with the ordinary key but you can stop it. It's cheaper than buying a full remote key you will never use. Quote

greatlime Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 I've followed this thread with interest as I only have the fob key. Where can I buy the garage key and at what cost? Can I get it at any locksmiths or does it have to be a dealer ? Any advice would be appreciated.Thanks. Quote

I got mine from Mid Kent Vehicle Services I think it has to be coded into the car, but I'm not sure. It was a big saving over a fob/plip. I needed the confidential code first, though. Quote
myglaren Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 The code card should be in the wallet with the handbook. Quote
