DaveHerns Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 My 2006 C5 Exclusive has door mirrors which fold back automatically .The nearside one occasionally fails to operate. So far all I have been able to do is squirt some WD40 in through a hole in the housing Any suggestions and how do I take it apart to have a better look - it seems as if the rear of the casing might unclip?Dave Quote
Guest rowls Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 The back cover will clip off but i dont think anything will be seized up in there as the car is only a year old. Sounds like either the mirror is faulty or the software on the car that tells the mirror to fold in has developed a glitch! Vehicle should be under warranty still so i'd take it to your local dealer and get them to see if they can sort it out for you! Quote

It is a bit difficult to explain. There are about 5 clips if I remember correctly, if you look round where they join together carefully using a small screwdriver you can locate them gently ease each one and at the same time with a larger screwdriver in the joining crack ease each one about one eight of an inch at a time you should manage it. DaveHerns Posted November 20, 2007 Author Posted November 20, 2007 Thanks for your help. My C5 has spent too much time in various garages so I'm trying to saty away if possible. My WD40 treatment seems to have worked (touch wood) . The mirrors sound a lot smoother when folding back Dave Quote
Guest Terry Toye Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 ~~~ My WD40 treatment seems to have worked (touch wood) . The mirrors sound a lot smoother when folding back DaveHi Dave,(Off-Topic) Have gone 2500 miles since Throttle Body changed - no re-occurrence of problem (throttle cutting out) - Fingers Crossed. On-Topic Where exactly (on the mirror assembly) did you push in the WD40 tube & squirt.I worry about my mirrors too. They seem to be working quite hard for something that has to operate every time you lock / unlock the car.I wish they had made it a User Settable Option. All the bestTerry Toye Quote
Randombloke Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I wish they had made it a User Settable Option. It is a user set option. There is a control that you can use to fold the mirrors in the drivers door, manually. If you operate that the way you normally would to fold the mirrors away but hold it for 5+ seconds, the mirror folding on locking is enabled/disabled as a toggle. HTH. Disclaimer: Works on my 2002 2.2 HDi estate. Quote
DaveHerns Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 Hi Terry When the mirrors are folded in there's a small hole in the black part. Also I separated the casing as far as I could and squirted some in. Finally a bit between the mirror housing and the base It's worked so far and the mirrors sound a lot happier as they fold I would deactivate them but I can't get in the garage with the mirrors out Dave Quote
