thecaptin Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Could any one tell me what are the parts i need to buy,to get optimum performance and are best suitted for my C4 2.0L Gaso 4Dr (easy to instal)? From Air Filter to Turbo Charge the works. also i need something that does not impact the engine life span. Please make it very clear in points if you may. cuz i really don't understand anything about performance upgrade :P thanks Quote

wozza Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Depends on how much money you have to spend. But as john said it would be cheaper to buy a real performance car to begin with. Could supercharge the standard engine or turbo it. Costs a lot of money to do a proper job though. Will need all new internals for the engine low comp pistons, forged rods etc. Someone to map the car for you who knows what they are doing. It is not a cheap conversion it is very expensive. Anything you do really is going to be expensive. But if you want to spend the money anything is possible. Quote
BigJohnD Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 And if there's a significant increase in revs, power and torque, you'll need a beefier clutch and gearbox. And uprated tyres/wheels and suspension to cope with the greater forward and lateral accelerations, plus enhanced braking for deceleration to match. And no doubt you'd have to make body modifications to accommodate and cool everything and to look the part. But if you want to spend the money anything is possible.Exactly. Quote
thecaptin Posted November 10, 2007 Author Posted November 10, 2007 Ok i get your point what if i want to improve small thing like air filter, spark plugs, petrol filter ...ext is this possible ? will it add signifecant amount of power to the car. Quote
wozza Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 You can do all that differences....not much. Could go with a decat exhaust, intake, remap few other bits and pieces might gain you 20hp or so. Guessing you only have the 143hp engine? If there is a decent tuning company about they could do an ITB conversion. WIll get it up towards the 180 - 190hp mark properly mapped etc. Not cheap though it will give good results. Quote

This is obviously way out there. But if you were going to turbo/supercharge the engine. And where willing to spend all that money. Would it not be better to stick a 2l turbo say from a written of impreza or evo. Parts are alot easier to get. i.e. gearbox and clutch. Plus the engine can handle the power and the turbo is already there Quote
iannez Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 agree with big john about the imprezza. the cost of the mods + the cost of your car will probably come to more than a year old sti and would still have no where near the power. plus an imprezza will always be worth decent money. it would probably cost as much as an imprezza to insure once once you tell them about the mods. imo if you want a fast car you should buy a fast car and then make it faster. wozza Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Throttle bodies with some supporting mods can get it to the 180ish mark. But with what it would cost you would be better off just saving your money. Quote
