Hi All

I love Xantia's that much, I bought another one for the missus.

This one makes a ticking noise about once ever 10 seconds. It is more frequent if you adjust the suspension. After reading the forum it appears to be the accmulator that is at fault. Is this the cause, andd are these £20?

The clutch is a bit juddey, does this mean it needs replacins?

Thanks for youer help.

Sounds as though it needs a new accumulator. If you change it yourself, fit the new sealing ring in the groove in the housing and not on the sphere itself. Also don't remove the bleed screw, just loosen one turn. £20 or so +VAT sounds about right from GSF.

Thanks for that John.

I think I have cross posted this in the Tech section also, so I don't know if the ops/moderators wnat to remove this post...

Just out of interest, can you replace the sphere without a pit, can it be done on ramps?

I assume there won't be enough clearance under the car when lowered to get to it.

how do you take it off???

It screws off! Anticlockwise. You'll need a wrench of some sort. Mind you don't damage the radiator by hitting it with the wrench handle.

IS it a problem if it DOES tick!!!!!!!!!

as mine does too..........

As Dave said, it should tick four times per minute. If it does more, then it isn't acting as an accumulator of pressure. Therefore power steering, brakes and suspension are under-performing.
