Hi I recently bought a Citroen C 3 1.4 exclusive, but find the alarm very sensitive, it goes off a couple of times a day, Any suggestions on how to fix this??

I have left it back to the garage, but they said that they could find no faults.

any help welcome, no wise asses telling me to change address :(

To be honest car alarms tend to be more troublesome than assistance toprotecting the car.

Have you been in a car park and heard one go off, did anyone take any notice? Most alarms will not deter a thief if he really wants your car. By all means leave a sticker in the window but the flashing immobiliser light will deter.

the C3 is fitted with an imobiliser which will deter most theives. It also has dead locks fitted as standard. this you may not know.

On the early models the first press of the blipper sets the door locks so that the interior handles will still open the doors from inside, BUT a second press also disables the interior handles. thus if a thief does break in he can't open the doors. On the facelift models the blipper works in reverse and the first blip is the dead locks and the second allows the handles to operate insdie. We have both models of car in our house. BUT no extra alarms are fitted.

So in answer to your qusetion I'd have it removed. It's porbably a volumetric alarm which can be triggered by air pressure of a passing car or even a strong gust of wind.

If the Alarm is going off straight after arming it that is normal because when the door is first shut the system is self checking if u Blip the car within 2 seconds of slamming the door it will always go off....... if this is not the case with yours it maybe more than likely to be the ultrasonic sensors

Its not that the alarm goes off staright after arming, it just that it has a habit of going off 2 or 3 times a night, could be and most probably the same during the day, just don't know due to work.

I have thought of getting it removed, but see that as a last resort.

Is there a way to make it less sensitive? or at worst disconnect it?

Hi Folks.

Not sure about the C3 as I've never had one, but the alarm on a Xantia can be disabled simply by locking the car with the key in the door rather than the "plip". On the Xantia it's lock once for normal lock, twice for deadlock. The car is then locked without the alarm, essential when taking an overnight ferry for instance. The car can be unlocked with the "plip" in the normal way. As I say, I'm not sure about this for a C3, but try it and see if it works. I'd be interested to know, one way or another.

Cheers. Hope this helps. ;)

I have never had problems with my alarm on my C3 or my brothers.

The only thing I can suggest to you is disarm the sensors by pressing the alarm button by the radio after you have switched off the ignition once the light is on close the door and lock the car.
