Hi Porky!

I'm not sure if you know what the numbers mean so I'll give a wee explanation. The first number, 165 in your case, is the width of the tyre in millimetres. The 65 is the "Aspect ratio" which means that the height of the tyre from the bead to the tread is 65% of the width. 15 is the RIM size IN INCHES! Weird or what!

My Picasso (And my 1.9TD Xantia) has 185/65x15" tyres. My 110 Hdi Xantia had 205/60x15" tyres. The difference in rolling radius between the two is about 1.6 mm, or less than the difference between a new tyre and a worn one. I tried the 205/ 60 section tyres on the Picasso (Same rim as a Xantia) and checked the speedo against my sat nav and it was within 2 mph all the way. So. OK there. You also have to be sure that the tyre isn't going to foul anywhere. In my case they were OK, both front and rear. Bearing in mind that the Multispace is more or less the same vehicle as the Picasso (Underneath) you'll most likely get away with an upsize to 185 or 195/60x15 without any problems of fouling and probably improve the roadholding of your car to boot!

Cheers. Hope this helps.

Porky - I'm a little surprised to hear that you find 165/65 R 15 tyres hard to source. I would have thought that if you give your local garage / mechanic / dealer a couple of weeks notice, they would have no difficulty getting them for you.

Alternatively, you could get them at http://www.mytyres.co.uk

By the way, was your Berlingo originally fitted with 165/65 R 15 tyres? I ask, because my early 2002 Berlingo came with 175/70 R 14 - and I would have expected yours to be the same as mine.

Personally, I think it is best to stick with the size of tyres that the car originally came with.
