2001 C5 petrol. Has anyone had this experience? On starting our 2.0ltr 16v there was an explosion in the large fluted plastic intake duct on the front of the engine. It blew a large piece of it off it. I don't know why this happened, but it seemed that the fuel mixture could have been sucked back into the intake because of a sticking valve. But I don't know. Anyone shed some light on this? ;)

Was it an explosion or was air filter blocked and when you fired car up it imploded the air trunking also is car running now or not. On a serious note i would take it straight to the dealers and have it checked properly as you realy cant take any chances with something like that. Many many years ago it would of been classed as a backfire and was quite commen but now with high pressure fuel system you just cant muck around with them and in this case it is definatley a job for the professionals
