JMMR Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Hello - I hope you can help me Bought a new C2 on May 31st. (My second - first one was great - no problems at all) After two or three weeks, I started to find that the engine would suddenly and silently cut out at very low revs or when idling at a junction. No stalling - the engine just quietly dies and the power steering dies too, so steering suddenly becomes very heavy. Turning ignition off, then on again, starts the engine again. The dealer has had the car back once and pronounced it cured - they told me it was a software error. It ran OK for 10 days or so, but the same problem has now re-appeared. The car is going back to the dealer, but I am getting worried that I have bought a dud car and am in for endless hassle, since this is an intermittent fault and they were confident they had cured it. Has anyone had the same problem? Any ideas? Many thanks in advance for any responses. Quote
techbod Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 a software issue? sounds more like the idle control ( IAC ) valve or a vacuum pipe has come off, ask them for the fault code when it goes in don't just let them repair it and say it was this or that they have to put it on the diagnostic machine to check for faults and they get a print out and you want a copy :D Quote
JMMR Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 a software issue? sounds more like the idle control ( IAC ) valve or a vacuum pipe has come off, ask them for the fault code when it goes in don't just let them repair it and say it was this or that they have to put it on the diagnostic machine to check for faults and they get a print out and you want a copy :D Thanks, techbod I have just taken it back this morning and informed them that I will reject the car under the Sale of Goods Act if the problem is not fully and finally corrected on this occasion. Seems this is a known problem that afflicted many early C2s, but they have not encountered it with later models. They were in touch with Citroen about it and were advised to reload the software. Interestingly, the problem appeared about two weeks after I bought the car and re-appeared about two weeks after it was returned for the first time. We have always had a good service from this dealer (customers for 23 years and two citroen buyers in the family) so I'm hoping things will be sorted, but I will ring them and do as you suggest. Thank you again. Quote

techbod Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 HDi ill bet and it seems to be common and down to relays/resistors in the fuel system wiring, for what ever reason they seem to trip out and loose fuel pressure as these cars depend on high pressure fuel delivery any deviation causes your problem and im surprised its not a recall and they know all about it ( probably making buckets of money out of the warranty ) :D Quote

karenleona77 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Hi I have a C2 2007 model with the same problem. As soon as I apply pressure to the accelerator, the engine cut's out. Needless to say I had to get towed home! The garage have run every diagnostic and have found no fault code, they spent 2 days looking and they are stumped. Any ides?? Need help .....thanks Quote
paul.h Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Welcome to the forum. Did you use a Citroen garage for the checks ? Possibilities could be a problem with the accelerator pedal or its wiring or may be at the throttle body end - a diagnostic check should be able to see the pedal output to see if it increases smoothly so you would expect this to have been checked. A diagnostic check with the right equipment might also be able to simulate the pedal output to see if the engine will run. Quote
