Guest puppup Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Hello all hope someone can help, I have a leak on the accumulator, its leaking when the suspension goes down, or when it is put up to its highest level, the leak is at the far right as you look under the bonnet, or opposite end to the sphere where the bracket is and where there is a 10mm bolt in the middle of it, it seems to be seeping out through the edges of the bracket every time the suspension clicks as it drops down, the system was topped up far too much before i bought it and I had to take out at least 2 liters of fluid, it was leaking quite a lot of fluid before I drained some out, so I’m hoping it’s just some residual fluid weeping out, what do you think. techbod Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 is the suspension working alright? does it go up as it should? is the suspension hard? it could be the accumulator sphere is beging to fail and that would put too much pressure on the system and leak from that particular area as there is a bypass valve at the rear inteded for that, http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...l%3Den%26sa%3DG Quote
Guest puppup Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 thanks for your reply, looking through the service history I have receipts for the rear spheres in Jan 2007 now done 24k on them, and Aug 2007 now done 6k on a new centre sphere this could be the rear one as the front one looks old, the front two spheres were last changed according to the history back in Jan 2006 now done 60k on them, the front centre sphere I have no record of ever having been changed so this could be as you say a good starting point to change, thanks for the link. The suspension does go up and down as it should, and is quite a smooth ride but I don't have any way to compare it to as this is the first one I’ve owned, also when you place the suspension up to its highest level and then to its lowest it slowly drops down and as it does it I hear a click nose (now I know it’s the bypass valve) from the accumulator, and as it does it then leaks as the bypass valve clicks it seeps out, is this bypass valve meant to click as it lowers down? and if yes then as the system was overfilled could it have now damaged the bypass valve. thanks for your help. kfk Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 overfilling the reservoir will not damage the regulator assy......from what you are describing a seal has failed within the regulator and it will require replacement. take a look here Quote
