306 Zx Parts

What parts are the same and what parts are different!

Does anyone know.

 

Also will a 306 exhaust fit a zx?

apart from not knowing what you are trying to achieve, you havent stted what model / engine size your ZX is.

 

In answer to your question......the body is different, the dash is different, the seats are different, the engine might be the same some of the exhaust components might be the same but could be longer or shorter as a complete system. the gearbox ight be the same but then might only look the same and have different ratios inside.

Sorry , i'm not really trying to achieve anything at the moment! It's just alot of 306s are sitting on the scrapheap and i am allmost always needing some part replaced! I have a 1997 5 door 1.4i Mpi which is the TU3 JP. I know a few parts are similar/same Suspension is same with different toe in for more comfort/ worse drive. The blocks are obviously the same not sure about head or ECU. Anyone know any more???

Hi Chris.

 

It's my understanding that it's basically the same car with very minor differences. For instance, although the drive shafts look the same and will go in, they will fail quickly as the ZX ones are slightly shorter and a 306 shaft will knacker the CV joints when fitted to a ZX. The rear axle beam, although identical, is also shorter in a ZX as the 306 has a slightly wider track. The brakes are similar and discs, pads & callipers and rear drums/shoes are interchangeable. Also things like the master cylinder & servo should fit. I can't see why engines and gearboxes should be any different and if the ecu plug and socket is the same and the engine is the same horsepower etc then I would expect it to be OK.

 

If you want to know if a part will fit for sure look up the same part for a ZX and 306 on the GSF website online shop http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ and if the part number is the same, you're in business. There's a lot more interchangeability out there than you may think!
