found this on another site I use,While relating to Renault's fault with turbo failier I wondered if it may be of some use to C5 owners

Hi,

The information I have (on the newest Renault dCI cars) is that it's not a turbo fault per-se, but the result is that the turbo and the engine do indeed die - but it's a design issue with the diesel particulate filter.

If you have a Renault with a DPF (this will be in addition to the diesel exhaust catalyst) you need to pay attention to the warning messages that appear as the DPF becomes blocked with crud. When the DPF is saturated to around 40%, if you try to switch the engine off, the diagnositics should inform you to continue driving - and you really do need to find a section of motorway (or constant high engine rpm) to clear the DPF.

If you don't clear the DPF, then it will continue to block - and at around 75% saturation it will no longer regenerate and need a garage replacement.

If you ignore the PDF warnings or if the sensor isn't working, then the DPF can block and this will certainly cause the oil to exit the sump...

THE solution seems to be,to travel at least 40 miles @ 40mph to clear/regenerate the filter

hope its of some use
