Zx Elation Brake Adjusters

Hi everyone.

Does anyone know where I can get Brake Adjusters for the back brakes of a 1995 1.4 elation petrol?

I tried the main dealers, but they wanted £69 each. This seemed to be a bit expensive for a small adjuster and spring.

Any help?

Thanks

The rear (Drum) brakes fitted to ZXs are either Bendix or Girling depending on what the factory had on the shelf at the time. They are quite common and are fitted to many other cars which may or may not share the same (or similar) parts. Try an independant motor factor, or, as a last ditch, a breaker/recylcler. I have also seen complete rear brake rebuild kits on ebay ( Shoes, springs, wheel cylinders and adjusters ) in the past for quite reasonable prices.

Had a look and found it again!!!! This is for Girling brakes by the look of it.

Thanks for the reply Colin. I'll check that out.

By the way, are the adjusters different between Girling and Bendix?

Yes. They are completely different and, as far as I know, not interchangeable. The kit that's on Ebay is a COMPLETE rebuild for BOTH sides and would appear to be girling. However, there are two. The one I told you about before at £34.99 (RRP £177!) and another at £49.99 (RRP £220!) which may well be bendix. That one can be found here.

Bear in mind that these are COMPLETE overhaul kits, not just adjusters. Email the seller

to see which kit is the correct one for your car.

Thanks Colin. You're a great help. I'll email the seller. It does look like Bendix, which is what I have on my car. Thanks again.
