Hi there! i am a Citroen newbie. I have just down sized from a scorpio ultima 2.9l to a 1.8 ZX. My insurance was £480 with no no claims and the insurer is Lloyds Tsb, they won't insure me. Other places are quoting me £600 +. Can some one help me ???!! Regards Simon

Just get on the phone to everyone you can. With so many variables postcode, job type, mileage etc for every ones policy what can be cheap for 1 person is ridiculous for another.

I know the feeling though as I have just gone from site to site and constantly phoning companies at the moment trying to get the best deal. Really do just have to shop around though.

I have just taken my insurance out with Brentacre with a modified car policy.

I am based in Manchester have a City postcode so that makes it more expensive and on a 2.0 180hp C4 VTS. Was quoted £680 originally on standard car £730 with any modifications I want up to a 200hp limit. No admin fees when declaring mods in future. They also replace mods like for like in the event of an accident.

Makes it great should I wish to lower it etc in future as there is nothing extra to pay I just need to let them know so they can add it to the policy so it can be replaced should I have an accident.

However the best bit is that they covered me cheaper than anywhere else and were willing to take my fleet insurance NCB into account and gave me full NCB. Which is great as technically I have no no claims however I have been insured on a car as the only driver for 6 years with no accidents so they honoured that.

Best bit was that they were £600! less than the next best quote which was from Directline. Friend has just has his Focus ST insured with them and they were over £800 cheaper than anywhere else.

my 2000 1.8 16v xantia was costing me £200 full comp so when I put the Lexus back on the road I thought I was going to get hammered ;) because its 4ltr 260 bhp but I was quoted £198 by swift full comp, im with 1st quote at the moment so I transferred the insurance to the Lexus at a cost of £37 and its still got 6 months to go ( I know its an age thing lol ) but a 1.8 to a 4.0 and the later is the cheapest

Try Adrian Flux (google), they seem to like the policies other insurers don't like, and generally, well priced too! They specialise in young drivers and modified / high performance vehicles.
